All you do to make your own glaze is to add a medium to the paint you want to turn into a glaze. That’s it! The spooky ghostly nature of the paint would be advantageous to Necrons as an immortal species and would also suit with the unearthly appearance of the Chaos Daemons. In the end, the decision comes down to personal preference and army vision. Hexwraith Flame Colour Schemes & Combinations With no solid physical form, Nighthaunt can retreat from combat and then charge in the same turn. They can all also fly, allowing them to move over terrain and models without hindrance. Their movement shenanigans can even begin before the first movement phase thanks to the Vanishing Phantasms rule. This allows you to remove three units from the battlefield at the end of deployment and put them into an ambush reserve, ready to enter play anywhere more than nine inches from all enemy units. They’re all also fast, most of them having a movement speed of eight inches or more. You might need to go over the area again to get the look you’re after. Just repeat step #2 as many times as needed. The beauty in doing that with a glaze is that I don’t have to repaint everything. There’s no need to base coat again, add layers, and highlights. I simply apply a bright red glaze over everything.

All three infantry units in this box are battleline choices, making this a very strong foundation for any army. To expand this into an army, you could consider Craventhrone Guard, crossbow toting ghouls who can target enemies they can’t even see with their ethereal bolts, and who will benefit from the Knight of Shrouds’ Spectral Overseer ability. If you thin paint with water then you’ll find that the paint goes on streaky. That’s because the water breaks the binder in acrylic paint.

Nighthaunt battletome

These are: Kroak Green (24-29), Poxwalker (24-30), Targor Rageshade (24-31), Mortarion Grime (24-32), Tyran Blue (24-33), Berserker Bloodshade (24-34), and Soulblight Grey (24-25)

Washes make for great glazes as well. Do the same thing and add medium to a wash and now you have a glaze. It’s something I do a lot. Conclusion The general aesthetics and narrative of the factions were taken into consideration when choosing to offer these particular armies. The spectral Hexwraith Flame would compliment the mechanical and cybernetic advancements of the Adeptus Mechanicus. Technical paints don’t look nice here. Also, don’t forget that all the weapons should look rusty and used. After this, apply a layer of careful drybrush. First, gray, then, white to make it more realistic. If you want a gray cloak to look darker, just apply the Nuln Oil before the drybrush. Generally, that’s it. You can also make some shades, but it looks fine only if you have an airbrush. A good example is when I’ve painted red. There have been times where once I was done with the red I found it a bit too dull. To remedy that, I applied a red glaze over it and give it more saturation, to brighten it up. This is where I diverged from Duncan’s tips. Why? Because I wanted to do my own thing and this stuff is like magic. It’s a “Dry” paint so it looks very funky. That’s because it’s intended to be used with dry brushing. You’re going to want to hit the entire model with this step. This is also the step you’re going to really be able to tell if you clean the models well or not. Dry brushing will showcase all your mould lines and if you did a crappy job, you’re about to find out…
