Embodiment of a piece played by minor keys of Piano targeted to mass audience( which is not a bad thing by any means). A little weak on performance but a great scent all the same if you want women to notice you get this. You get hints of watermelon throughout its lifespan on your skin and some tonka sweetness here and there.

In fact, no real substitutes discovered yet even though a lot of great muguet materials out there, especially Lyral, is still irreplaceable, perhaps not in terms of scent but in terms of longevity, its effect on the entire blend, fixative properties etc. Throughout, it is unobtrusive, warm, slightly sweet in an ungourmandy way, and especially the first few hours fresh, without being a "citric".

The spritzer breaks easy be careful, the new bottle the juice is much lighter for some reason and does not smell as intense so they must have re formulated however it's still the same scent just needs an extra spray. It starts citrusy and spicy, a bit sweet too (a bit feminine), then after 10 or 20 minutes it dries down to a very masculine, dry scent (a lot of cinnamon), that is not excessively heavy or warm.

I like very much this scent because the smell it's not overwhelming and have good sillage and last long.I love my white florals, but only when they've been composed well, which is quite rare unfortunately. Both Chic and Polo Blue are classified as woody scents but like Bleu de and Sauvage (in it's brief opening at least), they come across as fruity frags. To bluntly paint a mental image, it's a bad day on a Blade Runner set and you're on your "rag" and trying to conceal it with the worst rosy old lady perfume. The Pepper and Sandalwood dominate on me with creamy amber nuances in the drydown which lasts forever. The longevity and projection on this frag is suprisingly low and I had no chemistry with this scent, yet I think many men will love this and find it very alluring and loveable, and I think women will find this sexy also - perhaps between the sheets during the hot months.

As it develops, it just gets sweeter on me, with very little depth coming through, which is a great disappointment, as I love how fragrances play on the skin. It would be a direct competitor to Bleu De and Sauvage especially in it's older formulation when it was a lot more potent. This is not something I could wear often, I was gifted a big bottle and it will probably take me 10 years to finish it. In connclusion: This fragrance smells amazing but it doesn’t project great as a matter of fact after wearing it for 2 months I’m sure it dies down to the skin after 30 mins. They share the freshness, the cleanliness, that gives me the feeling as if I just took a shower all day, so I guess that it is the freesia, that is responsible for that.

If you want something other than a blue scent that is masculine along with being office safe this is a good choice.

When this scent came out in 2003 the industry was moving on from the fresh, aquatic era of the 90's into a more woody place. Personally, I think Chic could have easily moved into the Top20 or, say, Top50 of the perfume charts (men). Very cool perfume, opens with a bitter watermelon, i do not believe it is the watermelon fruit, but something very similar, only more closed and less sweet. I'm not even going to try and dissect the notes - it's an amalgam of sweet, spiced woods and it works!It's like spraying a bottle of flavored melon juice in the hopes that the "juice" might transition into a fragrance.
