I think I have read pretty much all of Katie Fforde's books, and though this wasn't my favourite, it was still an easy read. Many thanks to NetGalley and to Random House UK, Cornerstone, Century for letting me see an advance reader's copy of One Enchanted Evening.

You may recognise some familiar faces if you have read the earlier books, but this is a stand-alone story based around the delightful Nightingale Woods country house hotel. Get yourself comfortable in your favourite reading place with a glass of wine or a cup of hot chocolate and settle down to read this perfect romance. A delicious confection of patisserie and passion' Daily Mail Must Reads'A joy of a read' Bella'Another delightful read. This really is a problem for me because it could have been mentioned that it was Book 3 in a series, even though it could and should be a standalone story – and the story does stand up very well by itself. All things considered, One Enchanted Evening by Katie Fforde is an exceptional novel that should be read by all lovers of romance fiction books! v=1642608568","options":["Title"],"media":[{"alt":null,"id":25984385745051,"position":1,"preview_image":{"aspect_ratio":0. I absolutely adored this book as much as the previous instalments that helped us navigate through the ongoing lives of this trio of novice cooks. There is clearly no love lost between Meg and the rather pompous Justin, and tempers become frayed as he continually undermines her skills. I’ve wanted to have a book for Meg since we first met her in A Wedding in the Country so I’ve been super excited for this one since it was announced.

Being set in the 1960s it meant that some of the character's views were very off compared with today and I thought it was great to see how attitudes have mostly changed. The romance bit was also frustrating because I'm not such a fan of witholding information til the very end, so I didn't appreciate that we actually confirmed from Justin that he WAS with Laura, already quite near the end. First of all, thank you to Net Galley and the publishers, Random House, for an advanced copy of this book. This seemed a very predictable storyline with not much drama, and I felt the France vs Dorset setting for the main character was not believable. This was an absolutely delightful read, I believe that some of the characters friends of Megs are in a couple of previous books, which would explain how they met etc.It does acknowledge the lack of time to process events at some point but I felt that there were opportunities where this could have been dealt with. The owner of a hotel known as Nightingale Woods has passed away leaving the property to his sons Andrew and Colin and a mysterious third person, much to Colin’s distaste. And while their love story was predictable in places, it was no less compelling, with me shouting at them to get their act together and admit they were in love already!
