As a 160 - The more light in your shot, The better your photo will turn out. Instant Polaroid film loves light, especially natural light. Use the flash for all your indoor photos. For best results we also recommend using the flash for outdoor shots, unless it’s a bright sunny day. Even in the era of the Fuji Instax and Leica Sofort, the SX70 is perhaps even more impactful than it was at its unveiling. Today, there’s nothing else like it in the wild. Take this camera into the city or bring it to a family cookout and prepare to be inundated with questions. Next, prepare to be flooded with requests for photos. Once people see it in action, hear those motors whirr, and hold a gorgeous photo, they’ll want more. And shooters will be happy to oblige, since practical use is sublime and effortless.

I’m new to the vintage instant camera scene, but I’ve already learned how easy it is to mess up a shot. The bottom front part of the Polaroid SX-70 is where to load film and also where the film will eject when a picture is taken. A Living Legend

Model 1 features a brushed aluminum finish (paint), indistinguishable from metal by look and feel and genuine leather on top and bottom of the camera. SX-70 cameras operate slightly differently from other Polaroid instant cameras, so they need their own film. The biggest difference is the ASA – SX-70 film is roughly ¼ the sensitivity of 600 film, so it needs a lot more light to get a good photo. All folding-type cameras (except the 680/690 SLR models) use SX-70 film. The Metropolitan Museum of Art. "Walker Evans [Abandoned House]". www.metmuseum.org . Retrieved 2019-03-29.

I started using Polaroid SX-70 film when I was given a camera in 1984. I still have that camera. Beautiful as it is, it was already a bit of a curio then, but at the time I was a young painter embarking on many voyages of discovery, and I used it mainly for visual note-taking. And finally, for me at least, while the new stuff is shit, it’s still sort of Polaroid. It’s a bitter-sweet experience shooting it because it reminds me of what the real stuff was like and I know I’ll never get to shoot it again. And although I’d much prefer that the new stuff was way better than it is, I can’t quite bring myself to let it go. Plummer, William T., "Unusual optics of the Polaroid SX-70 Land camera", Appl. Opt. 21, 196-208 (1982)The lenses on those do leave something to be desired compared to higher end cameras, but at least you have a split image to help with focus and also a decent amount of contrast on the screen to see whether or not it's in focus. Using flash can also be troublesome as the MiNT Flashbar 2 isn’t powerful enough to light anything further than five metres/16’. The bokeh will become significantly less permanent with the flash but may still be noticeable at the shortest focus distance. Compatible with Polaroid SX-70 , Polaroid box type 1000 , not compatible with I-type and 600 camera. In terms of sharpness, there is no visible difference between SX-70 and 600 film after accounting for image shake. Is SX-70 film sharper than Polaroid 600? If you use a flash with pre-Alpha 1 SX-70s it will only fire if ca,era passes a “dark” threshold. Anything less it ignores the flash. So you think it will fire but instead camera gos with 2 second exposure. You end up with blurry shot.
