Additionally, when both products are under our nose, the Honor's box is just a touch shinier and more rounded at the edges, with silver branding across the hinge of the lid which is held together with decent and reassuringly strong magnets. However, the specs list doesn’t actually do justice to the user experience, and the Honor 70 feels like a step up in all departments. The cameras are noticeably better, and the phone feels faster than its older relative. We can't help but return to the on-ear volume function either; swipe up or down along the straight spine of either earbud and a little beep reassures you that the earpiece has registered your request and done the business for you.

When active noise cancellation is turned on, it may weaken the perception of the surrounding sound and environment. Turn on this function in a safe environment. Earbuds X3 Lite are non-professional water-resistant earbuds, able to withstand splash, water, and dust in normal state, and tested in controlled laboratory conditions to reach IPX4 water resistance rating. The protection from splash and water is not permanent, and may be reduced due to daily wear.

A premium phone with a budget price tag

If the Honor 90 Lite’s performance is merely adequate, then its stamina is generally excellent. I found that I was able to go through a day of moderate usage, with around four hours of screen-on time, and would still have a good 60% left in the tank. You’re looking at potentially two days of normal usage in between charges. Given that it runs on a relatively small 4,500mAh battery, that’s quite the turn up for the books, and it points to some effective battery optimisation on the part of Honor. Where that smaller cell gets found out somewhat is in more intensive media tasks. In our usual looping video test, the Honor 90 Lite lasted 16hrs 18mins, which falls well short of the Moto G73 5G and any number of Poco and Redmi phones running on more efficient Snapdragon chips and larger 5,000mAh cells. The Honor Earbuds 3 Pro look so much like an Apple 'Pro' product that people will end up doing a double-take. (Image credit: TechRadar) Honor Earbuds 3 Pro review: price and release date

Honor offers quite a few extra camera modes to give you some versatility. There’s Portrait, Macro, Pro and Night, which most phones get, as well as Aperture, which lets you manually tweak the focus. For what it’s worth, not once did we have an accidental touch incident with the Honor 70 - the phone felt comfortable to hold, nestling nicely in the palm. The fact that it weighs only 178g helps here too. Why the swift about-turn? Well, Honor previously claimed its AI temperature algorithm had an 80 per cent chance of achieving a ±0.3 Celsius or less error within a lab setting; however, the actual margin of error may vary depending on the individual and environment –and to give credit where credit's due, the company always said the product should not be used for medical purposes. The call noise reduction performance comes from the HONOR lab, and the actual performance varies depending on the factors such as the surrounding environment and terminal. In general, the photos the Honor 70 produced were decent, although lower-light scenarios struggled even with the night mode. Faster-moving subjects – children and pets for instance – produced a bit of blur, even in good light. But compared to other cameras in similarly priced smartphones, the results were better than expected.

If you have an Honor phone, you get even easier pairing… but the Earbuds 3 Pro will work with any Bluetooth device. (Image credit: TechRadar) Honor Earbuds 3 Pro review: value The phone runs Android 12, with Honor’s MagicUI laid over the top - this is largely a graphical change, with a bright (though arguably babyish) appearance, though there are some design tweaks too. Given how competitive some companies are to bring improvements and unique features to their Android forks, Honor’s software feels a little restrictive in comparison. That doesn’t mean it’s bad, but MagicUI doesn’t have as many stand-out features as Xiaomi’s MIUI or Samsung’s One UI.

There's no getting around it. If imitation be the sincerest form of flattery, Honor had some very nice things to say about Apple's AirPods Prowhen fashioning the Earbuds 3 Pro.It's alarming how similar the two propositions look, side by side.
