In terms of following the story of the book and movie, there are points where the game deviates; the importance of Snape's collecting quest is exaggerated and many memorable moments are left out in favour of classes and dungeons which have no relevance to the story.

Villoria perceived a strong quality in the musical themes and sound effects, which he attributed to the licensed audio tools used by the development team. The main dissapointment of the game to me though is that you don't get to fly the funky car at the start. At E3 2001, Electronic Arts announced its license to publish video game adaptations of the Harry Potter franchise, with titles for the Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, PlayStation, and the PC scheduled for November 2001.

In the book and movie, Neville breaks his wrist after falling off a broomstick from a great height during the flying lesson, what allows Malfoy to steal his Remembrall. Gnomes wander randomly, and attack when within range; unfortunately though the timing is slightly off and it's incredibly frustrating to even get a hit on them. However, he opined that the game's adherence to the source material's narrative deprived it of energy and a sense of adventure, explaining that the personal nature of the story's conflicts made for little action that could be easily translated into a video game. The game may be short and easy, but it's also thoughtfully designed and genuinely entertaining, and KnowWonder deserves credit for that. Frank Provo of GameSpot was very positive about the GBA game's recreation of the novel; saying "The main thing to keep in mind is that Prisoner of Azkaban on the GBA offers a fun way for Harry Potter fans to step into the shoes of their favorite wizard-in-training and experience firsthand everything that happened in the third installment of the series.

It's got a solid storyline based on the book and film, and dozens of quests that branch outwards from situations from the film . In the unlikely event that you're thinking that I've reviewed this game before, you'd be partially correct, as I've taken a look at the Game Boy Colour and Playstation versions of the game. The game can best be described as a puzzle platformer loosely based on the film version of the first Harry Potter book.To be able to purchase content for Wii U or Nintendo 3DS family systems, a Nintendo Network ID is also required and your funds usable through the Nintendo Account must be merged with the funds tied to your Nintendo Network ID. After your payment has been processed, the content will be downloaded to the applicable system linked to the respective Nintendo Account, or respective Nintendo Network ID in the case of Wii U and Nintendo 3DS family systems. The game is visually really good, with characters looking noticeably alike their realities, and it's also great that you can wander up to any student when roaming the grounds and they have a comment. GameSpot were positive about the game, scoring 7/10 or above across releases, [21] with a high of 7. To be able to purchase content for Wii U or Nintendo 3DS family systems, your funds usable through the Nintendo Account must be merged with the funds tied to your Nintendo Network ID. IGN commented on the game not forcing "random battes" from similar RPGs as a positive, but saying that it wasn't "enough to make Prisoner of Azkaban a successful RPG.

To Harry's surprise, Professor Quirinus Quirrell stands in the final room trying to extract the Philosopher's Stone from the Mirror of Erised. When a mountain troll infiltrates Hogwarts, Harry and Ron notice Professor Severus Snape behaving suspiciously before they go to rescue Hermione from the troll.

Dan Amrich of GamePro and Gerald Villoria of GameSpot regarded the game as a run-of-the-mill adventure title, but considered it to be more challenging than expected, which Villoria attributed to the delay in Harry's Flipendo spell and the erratic enemy AI. The player's health is represented by the lightning bolts in the top left of the screen, and one is taken away for each time the player comes into contact with an enemy. This system must be updated to the latest system software and connected to the internet with automatic downloads enabled, and it must have enough storage to complete the download. Unique to this Harry Potter game, all characters have their own unique quotes for whenever they get hit by a spell. The animations are decent for the time, but any battles with enemies are too shortlived or frustrating to enjoy when compared to the RPG stylings of the Game Boy Colour release.
