Description

It's taught and witty thanks to distinguished dramatist Hugh Whitemore's delightful script and as comforting as a warm blanket, a stodgy tea and a roaring fire on a winter's evening. The series was produced by Playground Entertainment for Channel 5 in the United Kingdom and PBS in the United States.

As well as the vet tales, it also includes events that were taking place at the time as the second World War was approaching. A small morsel of extra joy: you may recognize a magical face amongst the other actors, his having been a regular in a famous film franchise. By the time you've finished watching the first few episodes, you will have forgotten that you're not watching the legendary, original series and wish that this first series also had 13 episodes. James undergoes a variety of adventures during his work, which are just as often caused by the characters of the county (including the Farnon brothers) as the animals in his care. With Darrowby’s very own Tristan away serving in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps, James (Nicholas Ralph – The Most Reluctant Convert) readily accepts the help of his wife Helen (Rachel Shenton – Hollyoaks) and their caring housekeeper Mrs Hall (Anna Madeley – Deadwater Fell, In Bruges), who are happy to muck in with him and Siegfried (Samuel West – Howards End), to make sure the surgery runs smoothly.

The only thing that puzzles me slightly is why there are so many DVD’s- why was it not possible to put more than two episodes on each disc?

Nostalgic for the previous adaptation of All Creatures Great and Small aired decades ago on public television? Once there, he quickly discovers that treating the animals is as much about looking out for their owners: there are plenty of people and animals to care for, challenges to meet, and life-affirming lessons to learn along the way. This television series is based on James Herriot's hugely popular autobiographical books that recount his work as a veterinarian in the villages of Yorkshire, England. Hope when they make series 3 and issue DVD the 2nd Chistmas special is included without purchasing previous series.

The New York Times indicated that Donald Sinclair actually had more rough edges than the Siegfried character in the books (and in the TV productions). I finished watching the first three seasons for the fifth time waiting for some channel to play the other seasons after Helen Drinkwater left the series. Non è ancora stata distribuita in Italia, quindi i dvd sono solo in lingua inglese ma con i sottotitoli i dialoghi sono pienamente comprensibili.Sinclair's real-life behaviour was much more eccentric (he once discharged a shotgun during a dinner party to let his guests know it was time to leave)". The dialogue is realistic and the characters behave with each other just as friends and colleagues would. If some of the discs are scratched or won't play properly just let us know and we would be happy to send you replacement discs or seasons at our cost.

Fresh out of Glasgow Veterinary College, James Herriot (Nicholas Ralph) follows his dream to become a vet in the magnificent Yorkshire Dales. It’s lovely to be able to watch them all again so many years after watching the series when it was aired on the BBC in the 1970’s. And now, "another one" (Yorkshire folk's welcome for the new assistant James Herriot, when he started his job with Siegfrid Farnons rural surgery) - not a better one, but also interesting, humorous, enjoyable. Set in the fictional Yorkshire Dales town of Darrowby, the joyful journey of country veterinarian James Herriot (Christopher Timothy) will warm your hearts with its simplicity and gentle humor.but I can tell you in all certainty, that I will continue to revisit the original episodes, produced between 1978 and 1990, to wallow in these highly entertaining, humorous and heartfelt episodes of the original series. The reproduction, modification, distribution, or republication of the content (including RSS feeds) without permission is strictly prohibited. All Creatures Great and Small was a British television series based on the books of a Yorkshire veterinary surgeon who wrote under the pseudonym of James Herriot. I am especially blown away to have learned that Alf's son and daughter were there during the wedding scenes. All Creatures Great and Small is an amazing show set in Yorkshire, England and follows the life of a famed veterinarian, James Herriot.
