I do rather wish there had been 3 different narrators for the audio (if not 4), but I still thought Angela Lin did a fantastic job and I thoroughly enjoyed her narration for this book. Personally, if I was going to read about people in this situation I would prefer it to be a non-fiction account.

But one of the workers is accused of a terrible crime, and now they must all speak out to try and save their friend. The lawyer-turned- New York Times bestselling author said she agreed with exonerations of the rape charges against the five — but said "the other charges, for crimes against other victims, should not have been vacated. Working as an in-home caretaker for an elderly stroke patient, Angel lives a fulfilling life in Singapore where she has a strong community of friends and a job where she feels valued. When their friend is accused of murdering her employer, three Filipina domestic workers in Singapore start their own investigation to clear her.

Beneath the propulsive pulse of the murder mystery is Jaswal's subtle illumination of the many indignities that the powerless must endure in this tender and heartfelt novel. Ben Guterson makes excellent use of his trademark ability to create puzzles and conjure clues in this innovative tale that pits clever and intrepid preteens against dark forces, dodgy family secrets and dastardly adults. When a Filipina domestic worker, Flordeliza is arrested, accused of bludgeoning her employer to death, everyone thinks she is guilty, except for a trio of unlikely sleuths who are determined to find the real murderer and clear their counterparts name. When They See Us is a 2019 American crime drama television miniseries created, co-written, and directed by Ava DuVernay for Netflix, that premiered in four parts on May 31, 2019.The "mystery" plotline never really got off the ground and the ending of that storyline felt far too convenient. Again and again, the quartet perform seemingly impossible stunts and always seem many steps ahead of the police. Five adolescents (Raymond, Kevin, Korey, Yusef, and Antron) are shown in their comfortable, familiar residential neighborhood of Harlem, bantering with each other and playing. I’m more sad there wasn’t as much depth about migrant Filipino women living shamefully and being horribly treated in Singapore as housemaids. It is what is known as a "card force", wherein the magician makes the unsuspecting audience member pick a predetermined card.
