Yuu on the other hand reminded me of Chise from The Ancient Magus Bride. Both orphans, both wish to have a family, and both have similar hair. Except that one is a But, there is a gem here, and that is a heartfelt brother-sister relationship, and a Lovecraftian horror story (minus the racism of course). I won't break down the story or anything like that, as that is better experienced as a slow burn, but let's just say if you like Lovecraft's pantheon of monsters and gods you will like this. If you enjoy a feel-good story, where a kid finds family, home, and happiness, with twists and turns along the way, you will like this. If you enjoy highly detailed art, with panels that go from jaw-drop sexy/gorgeous to absolutely horrifying, you will like this. Art Shift: Constantly. The atmosphere is usually calm but its minor tone changes are handled perfectly with difference in artistic touch. Slice of Life: Every chapter is a slice of Yuu's daily life with unspeakable horror reformed into the image of a loving older sister. Cooking, cleaning, going for walks, etc. The Elder Sister-like One ( 姉なるもの, Ane Naru Mono: The Sister of the Woods with a Thousand Young in Japan) is a supernatural soft-horror story about a young neglected orphan named Yuu and his adoptive elder sister Chiyo, who just happens to be an eldritch horror from another universe. But, you know, in a good way.

I Just Want to Be Loved: Yuu and Chiyo's shared motivation. Yuu, an orphan who's been passed off from one unwilling relative to another, wants to have a family that cares for him. Chiyo, an Eldritch Abomination who ends up being hated or feared every time she gets summoned to our dimension, secretly wishes a human would accept rather than be horrified of her for a change.
