We received news that LifeVac® helped save the life of a 97-year-old woman from Texas who choked on a rice cake, a 5-month-old girl who choked on a foreign body, a 2-year-old girl who choked on fruit, and 78-year. A spokesperson said: “If a user or member of the public has any concerns regarding the compliance of a specific medical device available on the UK market, we would ask that they report this to the MHRA. Furthermore, as the device is primarily recommended for use in care homes or similiar environments where trained individuals are present, and as the choker would need to be laid prone, the LifeVac is not recommended to be used on yourself.
