Overall, this is a case where the entire product description, design and aesthetics make it look and feel like it was made to be portable, pretty much like the AIWA EXOS 8, but instead, it is very much a speaker you’ll mostly leave and use at home.

The Exos-9 arrives pre-installed with compression software to level out the peaks and "protect the drivers". This current creates a magnetic field around the voice coil that expands and contracts at the same frequency as the audio signal. The speaker weighs a whopping 13 lbs, which is honestly less than what we would have guessed by its 7. If you want to keep your Exos-9 in great shape for the long-term, I would recommend you purchase their carrying case: https://aiwa.This isn’t present in the Exos 9, which, while a little disappointing, is also understandable given the design approach of the speaker, which focuses on a cleaner design. For the best sound comparison, we recommend selecting your brand and model of headphones in the right-hand column, or if your headphones aren't listed, you can rent one of our Listening Kits. ULTIMATE CONTROL OVER YOUR MUSIC - Crank the bass, mids, or highs with the 5-band onboard graphic equalizer. Furthermore, you could be using EXOS 9 while it is charging, which means that you are both going to have a virtually unlimited listening time, but you will also have access to the best sound possible, as the battery will filter the noise that is usually associated with using something powered directly from the wall wart.

Am I going to agree or disagree with the overwhelmingly positive reviews of the Aiwa Exos-9 speaker? If you're only interested in the Aiwa Exos-9 Review, please skip the small-form section below and go straight to large form. I like the way Aiwas approached their driver configuration for this speaker, as it can be challenging to provide enough clarity in the midrange and treble when you’ve got a large, dedicated subwoofer in the mix. I played different genre’s of music on the Exos-9, from 80s new wave, 60s psychedelia and modern over-processed music to bass-monster songs (for testing bass of course), folk and classical. You really don't need any clearances for it, but I would leave an inch or two behind it, just for the charging wire, and airflow, other than that it is self contained.

If that isn’t enough juice for you the battery can be swapped out with an extended battery that will be sold separately for around 18 hours of playback. I will be honest here, I have unboxed EXOS 9 and had a lot of fun doing so, but I couldn’t really take any photos, because the speaker itself was really big, and the package was even larger. The Exos 9 is not the newest speaker on the market, and battery performance has improved remarkably in the last few years. But the addition of the two tweeters and two midrange drivers allows the Exos 9 to sound fairly bright, given how much bass is in the mix.

The LCD display poses an immediate risk for damage when in the outdoors, and the lack of weatherproofing is a big drawback. If Aiwa can add some built-in water protection and some additional smart connection options like Alexa, AirPlay or Google Play, the Exos-9 could come close to that perfect all-in-one speaker. It offers loads of volume, a bass-heavy sound signature, and build quality that establishes it as a quality speaker choice. To start, the Exos-9 is big, heavy and loud, which makes it perfect for kid’s basement parties and both indoor and outdoor get-togethers. IHOME-STEREO SOUND, INSIDE OR OUT - With 200 watts of continuous power and 5 drivers, including a 6.The bass is the central element of this speaker, and if you like a large, smooth, deep, full bass, this speaker will give you wet dreams, but if you wanted the most clarity and detail, this won’t do. However, if you're looking for a more modern speaker with features like AirPlay, Google Cast, voice assistants and Spotify built, you'll have to look somewhere else - the Aiwa Exos-9 is the modern equivalent of an old-school boombox. Bare in mind, the slot "vents" on the front are purely for aesthetic purposes only, so they don't really serve any purpose. Aiwa has done an excellent job of matching the amp to the speakers producing excellent audio at all volumes.

Well, to say the least, it would be subjective to sticky my perspective and opinions on how the Exos-9 sounds. Even though the manual shows how the EQ arrows work, it’s still complicated so I just leave the EQ set to off. Still, if you’re someone who requires a good amount of battery life from your speaker, this does become a problem, and we’d recommend looking at one of the many other party speakers if you’re looking for something similar but with better battery performance. AIWA EXOS 9 vs Edifier E25 Luna – Edifier has made an interesting small stereo speaker setup for just 200 USD with their Edifier Luna, but it isn’t exactly the most well-sounding setup, and for 200 USD, Yamaha Music Cast already provided a better sound, but it came to me to ask what the difference in sonics would be between the 200 USD Luna, and the 300 USD EXOS 9, and well, if you thought that having Stereo would be worth it, I think that isn’t the case at all.The sound isn't low, however it definitely isn't something that you'd use at a party, get together, or if you just like really loud music, like I do. The speaker being bluetooth, you will also be able to use it with Tidal and a smartphone, which should make the experience really sweet.
