But that’s just its system, if you don’t want it at all, then this headphone is not for you. Anyway if you choose to use this anyway, you can’t use it everywhere, like outside or while traveling. Otherwise, this headphone doesn’t have good extra features that can help you to use it everywhere or take calls or other stuff as it is completely performance-centric. It doesn’t provide much convenience, only audio quality. I personally like a more wool-like appeal with a soft impact from top to bottom though. I also enjoy bass boost and more of a sense of control and depth. However, the one factor I dislike about the HD6xx is that recessive quality the midrange pushes. It is significantly more forward, objectively, on the HD58x. The HD6xx is just more relaxed sounding and less dynamically interesting than the HD58x.

After listening to one slow ambient song, that usually felt ominous and intense as the plodding bass increased in energy feel pleasant and mild, that sealed the fate of the HD6xx as being labeled unengaging by me. Extremely small sound stage . All sounds are coming into your head in one narrow spot . Not saying sounds are unclear , but they all sound from same place same direction. This makes classical music , live performance extremely biased and unenjoyable. I wouldn’t have any second thoughts of getting rid of the 660s, but the 600 and 6xx… I don’t ever want to part with either. A truly legendary headphone series for a reason. I can absolutely see why some may prefer the HD600 over the HD6xx, and I love them both. However, I could absolutely do without the HD660s. I've never truly loved them, but hearing the other two made me disappointed in the HD660s even more. I don't regret buying them, and they served me very well, but... I paid at least double for them and the return on investment just isn't there. Live and learn! The value and price to performance on this headphone are beyond absurdly great. One quality I did notice was that the HD58x Jubilee at 150ohm fairs much better at low listening levels than the HD6xx at 300ohm, which obviously requires more power to get a nicer experience from. The latter is very soft, so lower listening levels mutes the top end a bit too much, whereas the HD58x still retains good treble quantity at lower listening volumes. My usual thanks to all my current supporters and shoutouts to my big money boys: So in reference to overall tonality (IMO, YMMV, audio is subjective and all that), here is my hierarchy for Sennheiser’s models:

And the cable is easily removable and also easily replaceable if you damage it somehow. The length of the cable is 6 feet and weighing 261 grams, these headphones have a good amount of clamping force, which has been tried to be alleviated by using soft padding, which makes it easier to wear the headphone during a long session of music listening. Disclaimer : All my words are based on my own experience with senn hd6xx. My own feeing is biased and possibly quite different from others . :) which I fully recognize and respect.

In these formative days of headphone audiophilea I recall being at a meet in College Park, MD where there were a number of HD600s and HD650s. We were auditioning cables by Cardas, Stefan AudioArt and other DIY concoctions including pure silver cables. It was amazing what a difference the cable could make to the signature. Now let’s talk about the thing that matters the most in a headphone, the sound system. As we said earlier, the Sennheiser HD6XX provides amazing and lifelike sound quality and for such a reasonable price, which makes the headphone more desire-worthy.

If you’ve heard the HD800/S then you should have a pretty good idea on how the HD8XX performs technically. Top-class resolution with some of the widest (some say the widest) soundstage in a headphone are the prime reasons why the HD800 series still remain relevant more than 10 years since their release in 2009. A few weeks ago, I got my ears around the Massdrop HD58x Jubilee and have been in a conundrum of my own ever since. I have owned every Sennheiser model in the HD over ears series and enjoyed pretty much all of them, save for a few. And if we talk about the bass sound, it’s so rigid and warm, and the midrange sounds also dip close to the glowing colors of analog tape saturation. The best TVs of 2023 are all models that deliver exceptional picture quality, solid motion clarity, and intuitive streaming platforms. But beyond watching movies and shows, these TVs should also deliver a phenomenal gameplay experience, whether you’re a Playstation 5 household or a Nintendo Switch devotee. The bass is quite linear, with a slight drop in the subrange. Therefore, it is more emphasized in the mid-bass without being exaggerated, but still close to the neutral ideal. I would like to see a bit more punch and firmness, but when it comes to fun in the low end, the HD6XX likes to give the sceptre away and prefers to limit itself to a natural response and realism. For me it would be close to the ideal if it would give off 2-3 dB in the upper bass and add this to the sub bass. If you prefer a well-dosed, natural bass, which is a bit softer but not muddy, the HD6XX is the right choice.

Quality, again, depends on the rig and amp to scale up. If you are using a lower end system, my HD58x Jubilee sounds subjectively a little cleaner than the HD6xx. However, that changes when I use an expensive amplifier and DAC, where the HD6xx moves out ahead in quality. The HD6xx sounds polite, hyper smooth and of a more dense tonality in terms of physical weight carried. So be careful while choosing this headphone and make sure that you only care about the audio quality and not other features. Verdict In the high frequencies the HD6XX is a bit more reserved than it should be. It sounds absolutely realistic and provides a lot of information, but in the top end it might be a few dB more without making the sound too bright or artificial in my opinion. This could also give the HD6XX more transparency. Here I would like a more direct response, but as in the bass and mids this is criticism on a high level, because basically the HD6XX does everything right when it comes to natural sound reproduction. Only a little bit the effervescence is missing, but life is not a rainbow-colored unicorn and therefore you can't really blame the HD6XX when it tries to stay authentic. Sibilants or peaks I can't make out, which makes for an absolutely safe and fatigue-free sound experience. Tonal correctness is clearly more important for the HD6XX than the big show.

Instead of coming with a normal carrying case or pouch, it comes with this this big box which I hate. It's not travel friendly ONE BIT, it has a cutout to place the headphones in which isn't even fully snug or designed well, and the box is prone to getting easily dirty and its hard to clean or the material comes off. I'm going to sell my pair and the box already looks a bit like hell, and I've barely done anything to it. Why? Just why? They feel "cheap", as in lightweight and plasticy. But, I actually don't mind this at all, so don't think of it as an insult. I just wanted to mention that because I feel someone will equate that with not “feeling premium”.The Music style I usually listen are classical music, Japanese Pop and female singers, such as Beyonce and Celine Dion. All the parts are of good quality, but if you use the headphone for a long time, you might need to change or replace many parts. As the drivers might start creating distortion and rumbling sound, or the headset might become loose. But the good thing is you can replace those parts without any hassle. Sound Quality I always wondered what the upper limits in sound quality can be achieved with this design. You take a much superior driver and then you tune it for the job at hand. I bet it could be truly glorious. I imagine a super fast and punchy alive sound with great holographic imaging. Not the deepest stage but within that space everything is 3D.
