Whether you’re a hardcore typophile or a type-tyro, there’s something here for you: be it the eye-opening revelations of Eric Gill’s utter and complete perversity, or the creation of the typeface that helped Mr. Obama gain entrance to the White House. -Chip Kidd This book is a single-POV story where you'll only know Lana's thoughts. Think You Deserve Each Other where you didn't know Nicholas's thoughts and pull out your hair because you wanted to know if he loved her too lmao. I do love dual POV most of the time, but you know what? Single POV is also fun. It makes you wonder more. Usually the "boy obsessed" and "he has always loved her" tropes hit more whenever it's a single POV because you never see if he actually does at the beginning until he finally confesses he has been in love with the main charcater for a long time. THE PINING IN A SINGLE POV ROMANCE? DAMN! Broken hearted, grudge holder Lara ignores Seth’s message but when she rushes for the company meeting, her boss gives unexpected news: their company ATF will be operating under the umbrella of Los Angeles Chronicle and next couple of months they will host to a potential Chronicle employee. Her dear boss Natasha has a big plan to attract readers’ attention: Lara will compete with another employee to earn a columnist position for Chronicle and share her improvement via her columns and social media accounts. She’s gonna get assigned for different challenging tasks. Guess who will be her competitor?

Just My Type by Falon Ballard is a heartwarming and humorous story about a relationship-prone woman who needs to learn to be on her own. I loved the honesty of this book, though sometimes I found Hayley a bit wishy-washy and confusing. I enjoyed the funny texting and hashtags. I literally laughed out loud at some of the scenes. I also found Hayley's roommate really unlikeable. I understand her protecting Hayley, but I felt she was a bit nasty at times. Light-hearted but comprehensive, from rather odious typefaces, such as the hairy Grassy, to the ubiquitous Helvetica, each font is given a rundown. Garfield says he’s unable to walk past a sign until he has identified the typeface. Now, neither can we. – MonocleThirty years old, relationship- prone journalist Lana Parker is never getting over her first love, high school sweetheart Seth Carson who broke her heart not once but twice. We have these two characters, Hayley and Mark/'Stings', who meet and have an instant attraction to each other. Mark is a well-known rugby player and is known as this womanizer, who is supposedly only dating blonde model-type women. Hayley is not that, she is brunette and a little more curvy, and she is very sure that Mark would not seriously be interested in her - because she is just not his type. She had bad experiences in her past of people leaving her and she got cheated on, so obviously she has fears of being hurt like that again and is weary when Mark does try to get a date with her. That is how their push and pull starts, mutual pining and the struggle with being actually vulnerable with another person included. They have obvious chemistry, cute and supportive camaraderie, and growing feelings neither can seem to stop.

But so much of the writing was so cringey. There were things in this book that made me genuinely uncomfortable. The tone deaf dialogue about privilege. Many of the descriptions of sexual tension were extremely awkward and uncomfortable. Ever since a disastrous high-school break-up, Lana Parker has bounced from one long-term relationship to the next – she even works as a dating and relationship columnist. So, when Lana suddenly finds herself single, she’s ready for a break, personally and professionally. Fonts surround us every day, on street signs and buildings, on movie posters and books, and on just about every product that we buy. But where do fonts come from and why do we need so many? Who is behind the businesslike subtlety of Times New Roman, the cool detachment of Arial, or the maddening lightness of Comic Sans (and the movement to ban it)? Simon Garfield embarks on a mission to answer these questions and more, and reveal what may be the very best and worst fonts in the world. Mark Hastings aka Stings is a famous Rugby player in South Africa. Hayley is a wedding photographer. Years ago, there was a misunderstanding and Mark brought a date to his blind date with Hayley. She could not look at or talk to him since. But when a party with mutual friends happens, they are thrown together again and Mark looks at her in a fresh way. Despite their history and his womanizing reputation, all is not what it seems. Fonts surround us every day, on street signs and buildings, on movie posters and books, and on just about every product we buy. But where do fonts come from, and why do we need so many? Who is responsible for the staid practicality of Times

The amazing thing about typography is that you can go your whole life never thinking about it (or so I’ve heard) yet once you begin to study it, you discover a vein of material so rich enough to mine for a lifetime. Typography is about the way we form language into pictures. It is where the literary and visual arts rub together and make sparks. And those sparks are visible to anyone who wants to see them. Reception of Just My Type by non-professional reviewers was overwhelmingly positive. The New York Times praised the book, saying that it "does for typography what Lynne Truss's best-selling Eats, Shoots & Leaves did for punctuation" and that it is a "smart, funny, and accessible book". [2] BBC declared it a "well-written, anecdote-filled romp through the highs and lows of fontdom". [3] The Guardian declared it "bouncy, well-informed, and wittily-designed". [4] Brilliant… Whether you’re a graphics geek or have never given a second thought to what you’re reading, don’t miss this quirky, fact-filled font fest. – Lauren Laverne, Grazia This book won't just turn readers into avid font-spotters; it will also nudge them towards admiring the beauty of a single letter or a well-drawn ampersand. Garfield's reverence for good design, couched in clear, often lyrical prose, is infectious, and sometimes he writes as though the letters themselves were living things.

Featuring ~ high school lovers to enemies to coworkers to lovers, competition, slow burn, miscommunication, the one that got away, second chance, minimal steamage I liked Seth, more so than Lana, and I wish we could have gotten his POV too. Lana was a little much for me and, although somewhat understandable, I didn't like her mommy issues. Thank you so much to Putnam Books for providing a free digital arc in exchange for an honest review. It was a privilege to read for you! The depth and intensity of how he feels things and the gap between his inner self and life and his social persona reveal the cruelty and devastation of social media exposure. This movie was not bad. The plot was good enough. There was familiarity between the actors, who had a nice thing going. It was just missing IT. What is it? I don't know. There was no excitement, no big laughs, no clumsy moments. Not "i'm falling for you" kind of look. I did not feel any romance going on. This could have ended with the characters being the best of friends and not only would I have believed it, I would have like it. (But, where is the purpose of that kind of movie?) It was kind of boring. I found myself getting distracted by the zero notifications my phone had. I do think the best relationship was the friendship between Vanessa and Amber.Overall: I love romcoms! Unfortunately we cannot watch great written ones on our streaming services but thankfully there are authors like Fallon Ballard who can create swoon-sweet stories to make us enjoy the true taste of romcoms! Highly recommended!
