About this deal

The fast-pace performance won critics and audiences alike over with its hugely inventive set, creative direction, lightning fast costume changes, painful pratfalls and more ‘bad jokes’ than you can shake a stick at. A film adaptation based on the first novel The Falcon's Malteser was released in 1988 and it was entitled Just Ask for Diamond. Horowitz claimed he wrote the 1991 television miniseries credited as being based on this novel first, rather than the other way round, which would make this entry the only novelisation of a Diamond Brothers story in the entire series. The result was an audio version of Crimes Against Christmas released daily from 1st - 24th December as a comedy advent calendar.

But luckily for him, his younger brother Nick Diamond is around, helping him to crack his toughest case yet: the mystery of The Falcon’s Malteser. While also having a teenage protagonist and featuring guns, fights, international criminals, and numerous character deaths, The Diamond Brothers series has a more humorous slant through the use of puns, pop culture references and absurd situations. When a family find themselves shipwrecked on a deserted island, they have to use all of their wits, strengths and skills to build a new home. With comedy songs and a fully staged car chase scene, this production is set to cause an unforgettable whirlwind this summer. After a rip-roaring sell-out national tour in 2014 and a five star month at Edinburgh, Anthony Horowitz’ The Falcon’s Malteser (adapted for the stage by New Old Friends and presented with Theatre Royal Bath’s Egg, Newbury Corn Exchange, Natural Theatre Company and Walker Books) heads back out around the country. However, unlike the film adaptation, the series has never been released on any home media, and it was also never rebroadcast. The production was one of the hits of the fringe, playing to over 4,500 people with multiple sell-out houses in the prestigious Pleasance Forth venue and achieving great critical acclaim.

But all of a sudden, they find themselves the target of half of London’s criminal underworld – what’s so special about these maltesers that criminals are willing to kill for them, anyway? The entire series was re-issued in 2007 with new cover art designed by illustrator Martin Chatterton, [2] and again in 2015 illustrated by Tony Ross. Renowned as one of the best family shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2014 and 2015, The Falcon’s Malteser has played sell-out performances on two UK tours. This action-packed adaptation of Anthony Horowitz’s young adult novel The Falcon’s Malteser brings slapstick, comedy songs, mystery – and a fully-realised car chase – to the stage. For Christmas 2020, we were over-the-moon to be working with The Core at Corby Cube in association with Imagine Theatre to present a brand new adaptation of the classic family story: The Swiss Family Robinson.

Tim is the world’s worst private investigator, so can the help of his clever younger brother Nick be enough to crack their toughest case yet? In 1991, The Diamond Brothers, a six-part television series written and directed by Horowitz himself, was broadcast on ITV.
