About this deal

Contains the short stories " The Gun with Wings", " Bullet for One" and " Disguise for Murder" [1] :82 Pet the Dog: We witness a rare moment of tenderness on Wolfe's part when he and Archie are taken upstairs by Danilo's wife to see the sleeping children. While looking at the children, Wolfe says something in Serbian, and later refuses to translate the remark for Archie. Another sweltering month in Charlotte, another boatload of mysteries past and present for overworked, overstressed forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan.

Publisher] Reuben Imhof cut in. ‘Now, wait a minute. What is agreed and what actually happens are two different things. Actually, in a majority of cases, the publisher suffers – ‘ a b c Stout, Rex (2007). The Rex Stout Reader. New York: Carroll & Graf Publishers. ISBN 978-0-7867-1862-7. Crime story about counterfeiting with no continuing characters, set in New York City; serialized in five issues [1] :3 [6] [7] Stout had another wish, as well. In 1973, he gave an interview to Publishers Weekly and said, “The only thing I want is something I can’t have; and that is to know if, a hundred years from now, people will still buy my books.” Book club editions are sometimes thinner and always taller (usually a quarter of an inch) than first editions.

All I can say is Wow! Considering the fact that this book was written in 1954, it seems very prescient. Rex Stout did a very good job portraying/describing the conditions of the people of Montenegro, which was, during the 1950's, part of Yugoslavia. Considering the fact that they believed there was always hope, if not for Montenegrins of that time, but for their children, is how Mr Stout "saw the future." I took the time to read up on Montenegro and it did reach full independence in 2006. They waited centuries but Montenegro finally became it's own country, under no one's rule. In Fer-de-Lance, the 1934 debut Nero Wolfe story, Nero and his friend Archie get involved with the most deadly snake, the fer-de-lance. This dreadful snake is closely related to the murders of a college professor and a local immigrant. Nero Wolfe hopes to solve the mystery without getting poisoned himself and uses his wit and clever observations to bring a killer to justice. So—a dedicated misogynist or a man with a protective shell because his wife came close to murdering him…or both? I’ll leave it to others to decide. A suspenseful, professional-grade north country procedural whose heroine, a deft mix of compassion and attitude, would be welcome to return and tie up the gaping loose end Box leaves. The unrelenting cold makes this the perfect beach read.

Fer-de-Lance was published in 1934, so we don’t have long to wait. Something tells me he has nothing to worry about.a b c McAleer, John J. (1977). Rex Stout: A Biography. Boston: Little, Brown and Company. ISBN 9780316553407. Por todos estes motivos, este é um livro atípico de Nero Wolfe, mas em que se perceciona melhor o retrato pessoal do homem. Out-of-Genre Experience: While most of the stories are armchair-detective-meets-noirish-gumshoe murder mysteries, this one is more of an adventure story with elements of a 1950s Cold War spy thriller bolted onto it. Contains the short stories " Kill Now—Pay Later", " Murder Is Corny" and " Blood Will Tell" [1] :86
