Description

With modern-day issues explored against a backdrop of horror, Swamp Thing s stories became commentaries on environmental, political and social issues, unflinching in their relevance. Swamp Thing (per ora) rimane ancorato al terreno in balia dell’uragano dell’assurdo con il sorriso stampato in faccia. The intro to this book blew me away and I'm glad I waited to read this series, this is a great edition for a first timer.

The last thing I should mention is that this is the first appearance of John Constantine and it makes a lot of sense why Jamie Delano’s first run of the character is so terrible. He makes you understand that horror is very important in our lives and the impact of horror to this day, can be not just scary, its needed. He took a formulaic monster comic, and turned it into a more poetic one, addressing environmental issues and social issues, while also honoring its horror and fantasy roots. This is a timeless supernatural horror story, yet its psychedelic mysticism, humor and love give it hope. The Art as well makes me really stare at the Image to take everything in, and the way it’s all sequentially told is beautiful.

The giant event at the end doesn't feel very satisfying to me, because I don't understand the rules of the combat at all, so it feels arbitrary when the heroes eventually win. With a beautiful slipcover, great binding and oversized artwork, this is a must for the graphic novel nuts out there. Comprising three deluxe hardcover volumes, ABSOLUTE SWAMP THING BY ALAN MOORE debuts completely new colouring for every page, crafted exclusively for this definitive collector's edition by legendary colour artist Steve Oliff (Akira, Miracleman). His deconstruction of the classic monster stretched the creative boundaries of the medium and became one of the most spectacular series in comic book history.I enjoyed the more comic like moments where other characters crossed in most as they had the least narration an actually felt like things were happening rather than being told.
