Ability to connect to your phone wirelessly and project the phone screen itself (casting) – this effectively allows you to watch content without plugging in. Verdict: The BenQ X1300i is a seriously powerful 1080p projector. The trade-off is that this is pricy for a FHD resolution and the cost is in line with many 4K units. If your focus is a projector that is optimised for speedy low latency gaming then this will meet your needs more than practically any other unit currently available. Enjoy Big Screen — Projection size: 44-200 inches with distance 4.9-18 feet, the shortest distance to focus is 4.9 feet, and the best viewing distance is 10 feet with the image size of 100 inches, which will give you best watching experience.

The key things to keep an eye out are lumens (essentially brightness, the higher this is the better the picture will be when the lights are on) and throw distance (how far away from the surface you’re projecting on the unit needs to be to give a big enough picture). So whether you’re looking to get your first projector or are looking for a top-of-the-line upgrade, there’s something for everyone here in our take on the best projectors going. Design: BenQ's TK700 is relatively unassuming in its aesthetic. The white top is surrounded by a silver panel housing the lens itself and ventilation grills. Those grills are necessary as well - as this thing can run hot. Your usual controls are located towards the rear of the device, with a separate remote for easy fiddling, and you've also got a selection of screws to tilt and angle the projector for the perfect viewing experience. Integrated battery – very useful for camping because the projector can run for several hours without plugging in – this gives flexibility to where you watch. Vamvo Pro Mini portable projector can be uses anywhere thanks to its low power requirements! Just connect the included micro USB lead to a power bank, laptop, PC or wall charger.Using a tripod such as the Crosstour Mini won’t break the bank and it allows a wide range of orientations to be used without involuntary cursing. Make sure it is sturdy enough to hold up to 1 kg at a non-vertical angle though – some of the small plastic tripods will struggle with this. Unique Exterior — The curving design over the sides is fashion and unique. On the top, we use the newest laser pattern, which not only looks cool but also a protective layer that resists both oil and water-based stains

Dimensions are 3.8 x 13 x 13cm which is not exactly huge, but because it is not a vertical stander like the Yaufey, it takes up more precious tabletop space. Weight is reasonable at 1.1kg and there is a standard tripod mount on the underside of the projector which we recommend using. You prioritize resolution: If you're after the best picture possible we'd recommend investing in a higher end 4K version.

Performance: Instead of the usual one-game mode, the X1300i has three – for RPG, FPS, and sports games. As a result, when we used this as our primary gaming screen, it didn't matter whether we were playing games in lush landscapes, dark corridors teeming with enemies, or on the football pitch (British or American version) as we found a picture mode perfect – and custom audio profiles to bring out the sounds you want to focus on for each. They’re also great for watching video – for instance, sport mode is great for the greens of a pitch and the contrasting kits. We tested the Capsule 2 in both a Marco Polo campervan and an Eriba caravan. We found that even in daylight hours with the blinds open, the 200 lumens of output is ample to see the screen effectively if the projector is positioned reasonable close to the screen (i.e. less than 1m away for a roughly 30-50cm screen width). We found that the Capsule 2 auto-focused very effectively within a couple of seconds in all lighting conditions – very nifty! The Crosstour mini projector is a fantastic battery-powered projector at the budget end in terms of price, but with very acceptable performance. It is great value. One thing to consider as you shop for a projector is mobile connectivity. Some projectors connect up to your favorite smartphone or tablet to let you access your files or stream from your favorite apps. It’s important to look at compatibility if you’re choosing a projector to work with your existing mobile device, especially if you don’t have iOS or Android operating systems. There’s a bigger inbuilt battery than the Yaufey too which allows the EZCast to last for up to 4 hours of continuous use in ECO mode (running reduced brightness). However, we found that you can still watch an entire movie at the full 300 lumens. This is bright enough to use with some daylight coming into the campervan or tent.

Aesthetically, the L6200 is rather plain and unassuming. Its simple matte gray plastic doesn't attract much attention. It will blend into either a home theater setup or a boardroom. The Yaufey pumps out 150 lumens and runs at a native 480p for a screen size of up to 120” diagonal (3m!). The Capsule 2 can be fully controlled via some nifty touch buttons on the top and it can also respond to voice commands via Google Assist which works surprisingly well. This is useful for a camping projector because you often find yourself multi-tasking! As mentioned before, the Yaufey contains a rechargeable lithium battery (19 Wh) which means you can power up and watch a programme or film without mains power. This is true portability. The battery can be charged either by DC power or a USB power bank (not supplied) and lasts around 2 hours – enough for most films. So what are the key features of the best camping projectors which make them so useful for life on the road?

Vamvo L4200 Multimedia Dual Stereo Mini Projector

So what’s it like to use the Beam J4a? Well pretty effortless really. The picture was surprisingly good, and I really didn’t miss the HD resolution which you can get with more expensive Android projectors (see the Nebula and XGimi options below). I don’t know if this is because of my eyesight or just because I’m often not projecting on to a dedicated screen – in the campervan I often just use an upturned table or the poptop canvas as shown above. Having built-in android is a godsend on a mini battery-powered projector. If you compare it to the Anker Capsule 2 and the XGimi Mogo Pro then you are paying about half the price for the Yaufey for the same functionality (but admittedly at less resolution). Features: The X3000i is one of the best projectors in all categories, but particularly for gamers, and particularly for role-playing gamers – players who want to be truly immersed in the amazing worlds of triple-A titles. The key to this is BenQ’s CinematicColour system which offers incredible colour reproduction. The depth of colour is astonishing, with incredibly rich reds, blues and greens on the landscapes of next-gen games. There’s also built-in streaming through an integrated Android dongle, but as usual there are key apps missing. It’s clear that our ‘best-buy’ mini projectors reviewed above are not the cheapest items in the world to buy, and you would be forgiven for thinking “do I really need one?” at those sort of prices. This is a very valid point! This is a genuine concern, and probably the most persistent one still, as speed has never traditionally been a strong point. Literally having to throw a picture out from the unit means that latency has always been a concern. The good news is that modern gaming projectors have never been better in that respect and you can safely get a machine that's below the 50ms mark - the minimum you should aim for. The bad news is that the lowest ms times are reserved for those most expensive projectors. Is a projector good for PC gaming?
