But is it a great lens? I came away feeling much like I did after reviewing the 18-55mm F2.8-4 OIS. This is another lens with a great reputation that left me a little underwhelmed in the end. A good lens, sure. A great lens? Not to me.

Distortion is completely invisible, at least as shot as JPGs on my Fuji X-E2, which for all I know is correcting it automatically. The Fuji XF 50-140mm lens on the left is about the same weight and bulk as the pair of primes on the right. I suggest the choice should be the lens on the left or the 56mm f/1.2 and the 90mm f/2 on the right. The aperture ring is great, though if you don’t like using it you can set it to A and can control the aperture via the camera body. The lens zooms internally so there’s no need to worry about lens creeping. Wide-open and even stopped down a little, the Fujifilm XF 50-140mm f/2.8 achieves great subject separation with creamy out of focus areas and crisp subjects.

This is the very best telephoto zoom for the Fuji X-mount cameras. You could adapt LEICA or other lenses to the Fujis, but none will perform as well optically, and none will offer autofocus, EXIF data or diaphragm automation.
