Description

The majority of American people do not genuinely believe these superstitions, but due to the folklore’s influence on what people hear and believe, people essentially repeat the stories without putting much thought into what they say. It's based around four old friends hiking in the Swedish forests where they ultimately get lost and find themselves becoming hunted. In the end, it doesn’t really matter what the creature the couples actually saw, because the story is now well known to many people around the United States.

A light came on at the house next to the road, causing the creature to snap its gaze in that direction and tear off into the woods on its back two legs, like a man. Large, ape-like, and furry, this cryptid has been the subject of mysterious photos, internet debates and legends in the heart of the Appalachian mountain range. I grew up in Southern Appalachia (app-uh-latch-uh), in Western North Carolina 30 minutes outside of the town of Asheville.I finally worked up the courage to walk out of my bedroom and into the basement living room, with my little tactical 12 gauge, loaded, tac light on.

It is unknown whether he was haunted by the Bell Witch, but the legend has endured in Appalachia as one of its most famous ghost stories. The name ‘Mothman’ stemmed from the Batman villain, Killer Moth, who had a similar description and was depicted with similar characteristics. Because much of Appalachia has remained uninhabited by humans, much of that ancient biodiversity is still with us, Byers explains: “The gorgeous habitats that haven't yet been erased by civilization range from dark, misty red spruce forests to layered oak forests, from silver maple swamps along the major rivers to cottongrass fens on the high plateaus. However, this time it was scary as the figure stopped to stare at him giving him the chill of his life. Some of them have reported seeing ghost soldiers, odd campfires and the sounds of cannons blasting in the distance. One of the reasons the region is so rife with supernatural legends is not only that the mountains are old, but it’s also that they continue to appear old. I really enjoyed this anthology, there wasn't even one story in here that I didn't care for and ended up reading this in one go as it was so good. I'd just finished with Crystal Lake's Welcome to the Show, themed around a legendary music venue in San Francisco which blew me away.
