Description

Trimmed dialogue as Windu and his gang confront Palpatine. It reads, “Are you threatening me, Master Jedi?” “Not yet.” Unreliable Narrator: In the moments before his death, Captain Dyne sees the face of Sidious...and realizes the Jedi and Republic have been betrayed more profoundly than they feared. He's seeing Palpatine beneath Sidious' cowl, but doesn't convey this to the reader to preserve the reveal for Revenge. Big Fancy Castle: Nute Gunray's fortress on Cato Neimoidia gives off this vibe. Besides being huge, opulent, and full of rare treasures (the reason Gunray returned to his homeworld in the first place), it sits on top of an enormous warren where fungi are grown, both as food for larval Neimoidians and as a valuable export.

headscratchers though. 1-The Windu/Palpatine fight looked odd with the sudden darkness. I think I know what you were going for, to mask his facial transition but it just felt odd. 2-What on God's green earth did you leave in the "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" in Vader's reaction to Padme's supposed death? Why not use his yell from when Luke cuts his upper arm in ESB? JasonN, L8wrtr, Q2, AEMovieGuy, Corigar, Kerr, ADigitalMan, Slumberland, Stankpac, TM2YC, Spence, Father Merrin, Sithlord, and The Cutter. Gunray realizes that he left his mechno-chair, complete with records of his secret conversations with Grievous and Sidious, in Republic hands. Replaced scene with Windu hearing that Obi-Wan has engaged Grievous with deleted scene "A Plot to Destroy the Jedi” earlier in the film. (V6 repositions this scene immediately prior to Anakin missing the briefing, up from right before Anakin’s appointment to the Council as in prior versions of this fan edit.)

Obi-Wan never refers to R2 by name. It's not much, but it's a small way to gloss over the tension between the continuity of the PT and OT. Necessary to note that I listened to the ABRIDGED audiobook. Would have listened to the unabridged because most people say it's better unabridged, but I like audiobooks and there is no unabridged audiobook. This is a review solely of my experience listening to the abridged audiobook. Capturing Trade Federation Viceroy–and Separatist Councilmember– Nute Gunray is the mission that brings Jedi Knights Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, with a squad of clones in tow, to Neimoidia. But the treacherous ally of the Sith proves as slippery as ever, evading his Jedi pursuers even as they narrowly avoid deadly disaster. Still, their daring efforts yield an unexpected prize: a unique holotransceiver that bears intelligence capable of leading the Republic forces to their ultimate quarry, the ever-elusive Darth Sidious.

Verdict:“Labyrinth’s” story still works, it’s just odd that they don’t use Maul’s name. Unnamed Ahsoka Foregone Conclusion: The Jedi will fail to capture Sidious or learn his identity until Episode III. The tragedy of the book lies in seeing just how close they come to nabbing him. Corrected two inaccurate lightsaber ignition sounds during the opening sequence. Obi-Wan and Anakin's sabers must match their ANH and ESB sounds.

Author Q&A

Thanks indeed. I find mixing fan edits like that interesting, and tried to work out my own best possible PT fan edit combination before realizing I had to make my own. Someone should put a spreadsheet together illustrating which edits are "compatible" with one another. Removed Obi-Wan sneaking into the bathroom on Padme’s ship. If you missed him during the wide shot, it’ll be a surprise when he shows up later. At the citadel Anakin and Obi-Wan discuss their find: the mechno-chair. Anakin is determined to examine the chair there but Obi-Wan insists that they wait for Republic Intelligence to show up. Anakin refuses to wait though and has R2-D2 try and run a diagnostic on the chair. While Anakin is talking with Obi-Wan though the chair receives Gunray's signal and goes off to arm itself to explode. Anakin is able to stop it before it does, though narrowly avoiding poison gas emitted from the chair. After stopping the self-destruct, a recording of a conversation between Gunray and Sidious appears. Meanwhile, Bail Organa watches the changes in government and begins to worry about the outcome. He and a few others (Mon Mothma from Return of the Jedi) start the outlines of what will become the Rebel Alliance.
