There's some iodine and rubber, with seaweed too, but the sweetness is the prevailing characteristic here. A curious burst of peachy, estery fruit, hickory wood, clove oil and a suggestion of black olives on the aftertaste. Agitation seems to bring out its ashier side, so leave it be to reveal more fruitiness: baked apples, nutmeg, toffee, and some fresher buttermilk notes. Off the bat it is like chewing on a burnt piece of rope that has been dunked in the ocean and I mean that in a good way. Finish: Seemingly lasting forever, with deep, deep, almost subterranean flavours of clove, tar and rich toffee.

At first sip, it offers a peppery palate with a hint of spice accompanied by sweet treacle toffee and vanilla popcorn with a black olive aftertaste. That aside, Ardbeg Kelpie contains whisky that has been matured in Black Sea oak casks, which is a little more unusual. While that might equate to more mundane to some, I think this is will hold up to the dilution nicely.
