Just got it today. Smoky powdery. The campfire, smores type scent. Didn't like it at first blast..in fact, for a moment I thought I smelled a cumin type smell. Armpitty,lol..thank God it went away pretty fast..anyway, enjoying it now. Just had to get my nose adjusted. After it had dried down a while, and finished evolving, I was left with something.. Wasn't sure where I had smelled it before. But some note I get in my old Tresor Midnight Rose. Going to have a bath before bed and spray it all over myself and sleep in this smoky, campfire cloud. I'll update my review if anything changes or develops further. Breaks your prejudices, a bit too sweet but very enjoyable, absurdly good quality for its price, most of it smells delicious (the oud is smokier than it should be) but what the hell, it feels good, and you want some more. Trust me, it's Istanbul in a bottle.

Okay, so although I really like the fragrance it’s not something I could personally wear on a day to day I feel this Leans a little more masculine then I would usually be comfortable wearing as the oud is definitely very prominent. Not to say I won’t be wearing this because I absolutely will! I think my partner would get a lot more wear out of this and be able to pull it off better than me. The performance is quite high and you are bound to have a 10~12 hours longevity and a sillage of more than six feet at its peak. This fragrance is making me hungry. 🤤 I'm glad I got two bottles of this. One I'm reviewing is a November 2022 batch. The other is from March 2023 and I hope it won't smell different.

Words of advice: Preferably do not wear this in warmer seasons. I'd advice people to wear this in chilly to colder weather, for that is when it's able to smell it's best. During warmer weather I find it, somewhat suffocating and a bit sour. And also go easy on the trigger. Two to three sprays are really enough. Uniqueness: 8.0 (quite unique for a Cambodian Oud fragrance that is very wearable and not offensive) I debated buying this for months. MANY months. Why was I so hesitant? Because of the gender poll here saying its more masculine than feminine. Well, I don't agree. 100% unisex. Bought this on a whim after looking at the notes I was not sold however, my friend who also loves fragrances says it’s actually quite nice. So I did buy it on the basis of if I don’t like it, it doesn’t matter because it doesn’t cost a lot. Mind you that I am new to oud fragrances too. So, having sprayed it on my wrist and discarded the perfume, I went about my day.Wore it for 2 days and I was angrily underwhelmed and I thought I had a copy , fake or just a bad bottle 6 sprays nothing just some mild woods Opens with a huge blast of harsh alcohol, never a concern to me though as it dissipates soon enough. There is undoubtedly a strong chemical solvent smell that lingers after the opening, it’s something I enjoy to be fair but would easily be hated by some. Sits roughly in the territory of the plastic/vinyl note I get from Kenzo pour homme, where as the Kenzo is like a cheap pool inflatable, the Ameer almost reminds me of a softer whiff of diethyl ether perhaps. I was hoping for (chasing) an oud with strong medicinal (or band aid) qualities, after recently falling in love with Guilty Absolute Pour Homme. I get a hint of it but not nearly enough to meet my craving. There is a pretty mellow sour oud, with (slightly charred) sugary vanilla and little else to my nose.

I sprayed it on my hand and after about an hour, and washing my hands, the scent really smoothed out and a lot of the harsh incense smell went away and it took on a creamy smell very similar to Dolce & Gabbana The One. I don't know what it smells like notes-wise other than sweet, salty, smokey and roasted, because it's very synthetic-smelling. I had a 10ml decant of this for testing as for me MM fragrances are always hit or miss, I love some, I dislike others, none of them are in the middle. Now here comes the challenging part: trying to give you a short solid review of this AMAZING fragrance. I love an oriental frag on a hot summer day, i don't mind the warmth of them at all, so I would consider this to be an all year round fragrance. It's a different scene, and it isn't as comforting nor is it as well rendered as By the Fireplace. It is, however, still very interesring in it's own right and there is plenty here to grab your attention and bring your nose into. It also performs better on my skin, so that is nice, but the opening is truly terrible. That campfire was started with lighter fluid, my friends. Do not smell this or be smelled in the first 15 minutes of wearing this. Seriously, it's bad. I almost washed it off and put in on my trade shelf hoping someone else might like it. Just give it a chance though, or consider rubbing it in to tamp out some of those top notes (Gasp), once the initial miasma of lighter fluid and cotton candy calms down it becomes something that is quite enjoyable, if not as breathtaking as By the Fireplace. It only seems to get better as it develops, changing drastically about 3 or 4 hours in. My only other oud perfumes are Gucci Intense Oud and Versace Oud Noir. I love them both with Gucci being my favourite. I would say both of them are several times better in every way, reflecting the several times higher price. Still though I enjoy the Ameer and shall definitely wear it. Seems reasonably strong but not crazily loud or in your face. Whenever you feel like wearing a powerfull Oud fragrance, but want it well behaved and not disturbing your fellow common wearer and lover of citrus scents, you may well elect Ameer Al Oudh as one of your favourites fragrances.
