I absolutely adored Bullet Train a previous book from this author and Three Assassins doesn't disappoint. As a voracious reader, I’ve never felt bound to any one genre of publishing, though crime fiction certainly has primacy in my heart. Octavian accused Lepidus of usurping power in Sicily and of attempted rebellion and, in 36 BC, Lepidus was forced into exile in Circeii and stripped of all his offices except that of Pontifex Maximus. They would force their way into the woman’s home and refuse to leave, keep constant surveillance on her, until she finally gave in and signed the agreement. Lena Aldridge, narrator of Hare’s second novel, is also of dual heritage, and the person missing from her life is her white mother, who left her to be brought up by her impecunious musician father.

Hiyoko and Suzuki both think they saw who pushed him -- and Hiyoko instructs Suzuki to follow the man, which he does. At the same time, Isaka tries to humanise the Whale to a degree by showing him to be haunted by the ghosts of everyone he has killed. It’s difficult to tell whether translator Sam Malissa simply did a better job this time, or if Isaka’s writing was better earlier in his career. He shows some independence here -- not immediately giving in to Hiyoko's demands that he reveal his whereabouts and who he is with -- but ultimately continues to go with the flow (which, with some lulls, goes largely way over his head, tossing him about like a cork in the ocean).By doing this, Antony most likely hoped to avoid large cracks in government forming as a result of Caesar's death.

From Kotaro Isaka, the award-winning, internationally bestselling author of Bullet Train, the high-octane thriller Three Assassins , set in Tokyo’s criminal underworld, pits an ordinary man against a group of talented and very unusual assassins. While it took only one man to murder another, Brutus believed that for the assassination of Caesar to be considered a legitimate removal of a tyrant, done for the sake of their country, it must include a large number of Rome's leading men.Is Asagao engaging Suzuki in casual conversation or in a sophisticated allusion to the philosophies of assassination? As such, Thre e Assassins features a couple of characters who would end up having minor roles in Bullet Train, such as the Pusher, who has a few short point-of-view chapters as the character Morning Glory in Bullet Train, and the assassin duo known as the Hornet. The Pusher is almost a mythological figure in the criminal underworld, a killer whose modus operandi involves subtly pushing his victims into the paths of oncoming vehicles before melting effortlessly away into the crowds of the city.

That, combined with its shorter length, will encourage readers to power through it in a very short amount of time, and you will not be disappointed when you see what happens with this entertaining and amusing story. This autopsy report (the earliest known post-mortem report in history) describes that Caesar's death was mostly attributable to blood loss from his stab wounds. The Whale easily has some of the most complicated and intriguing scenes in the entire novel and it proves extremely fascinating to see his entire arc unfold.
