It is 1925 and the war is long over. But much has been lost and life will never truly be the same again. I loved the first in this 'family saga over the decades' trilogy but was very disappointed by the second, and was therefore a bit concerned about this final installment. The Last Secret of the Deverills is the third and last novel in Santa Montefiore's Deverill trilogy. Spanning the course of at least 100 years we follow the Deverill family and all there chaotic wrong doings during England and Ireland's political disputes. We follow young Kitty from an infant all the way up to a mature lady. Despite all the atrocious life choices this family make, I swiftly fell in love with each and every character making this a very engaging read. Nobody does epic romance like Santa Montefiore. The End of the World As We Know It - Goodreads

Medan den yngre generationen börjar ta över, lever de tidigare fortfarande fast i den gamla förbannelsen över släkten Deverill. Ska de någonsin få vila i frid? There were also a lot of coincidences, too many for my liking. I know Ireland is a small country and we're close neighbors with England but really!!! I had to suspend disbelief quite a few times. Castle Deverill, cherished home to the Deverill family in the west of Ireland for hundreds of years, has burned to the ground. But young and flighty Celia Deverill is determined to restore the sad ruins to its former glory. Celia married well and has the wealth, after all, to keep it in the family and she cannot bear to see it stand neglected. Fall in love with beloved bestselling author Santa Montefiore's epic tale of romance, secrets, family and friendship. I gave 4.5 stars to the first book in this trilogy and deliberately saved this second installment for when I could curl up in a cosy chair and devour it uninterrupted; having finished work for the Christmas break, now was the perfect moment.

This second book has me screaming for more. So many story lines weaving together, leaving the reader with great anticipation about what happens next. The main characters are all about to collide and I expect many fireworks in book three. When I read The Girl in the Castle I didn't know it was book one in a trilogy. That story ended well and didn't leave you hanging. Maybe one little mystery at the end but otherwise, it could have been a stand alone novel. It was quite a treat to find two more books were planned as I very much enjoyed the characters and plot.

The second novel in the beloved Deverill Chronicles, perfect for everyone who loves Jojo Moyes, Rosamund Pilcher and Victoria Hislop. This book didn't grab me as much as the first two. It took me a while to get into it and I found it a bit slow at the start. Once I got going and met all the characters from the first two books the story took off. Then the last few chapters turned into mush for me. Everyone was forgiving everyone and for certain things I think would be hard to forgive. There was also a lot about God going on with this forgiveness that just annoyed me and a lot of tears. El último secreto de los Deverill, es la conclusión de la triologia , una historia que tiene todo y que te deja sin nada , porque simplemente te roba el corazón. I didn't like how the family curse was an actual curse from the 1600s, and that ghosts were actually real. However, that's just my personal preference. I think it would've been better if it had been a theoretical family curse.

Daughters of Castle Deverill: The Deverill Chronicles: Book 2 Daughters of Castle Deverill: The Deverill Chronicles: Book 2

I have a tendresse for sweeping and epic romantic sagas set around huge houses and aristocratic families and Santa Montefiore hits the spot for me like few other writers... Lush, vivid storytelling ’ Sarra Manning Born in England in 1970 Santa Montefiore grew up on a farm in Hampshire and was educated at Sherborne School for Girls. She read Spanish and Italian at Exeter University and spent much of the 90s in Buenos Aires, where her mother grew up. She converted to Judaism in 1998 and married historian Simon Sebag Montefiore in the Liberal Jewish Synagogue in London. They live with their two children, Lily and Sasha in London. All across the USA, people are showing up dead. The deaths don't appear to be connected in any way until one particular death occurs and gets the Secretary of Defense's attention. He arranges for a task force to investigate.Bridie Doyle, now Countess di Marcantonio and mistress of Castle Deverill, is determined to make the castle she used to work in her home. But her flamboyant husband Cesare has other ideas. And as his eye strays away from his wife, those close to the couple start to wonder if he really is who he says he is. If you are a fan of family saga type books you will love this series. It's a touch of Downton Abbey along with rural hard living families spanning a time period of 1925 to 1938 (book 2). I struggled getting through this one... not the cute romance novel with some family drama in it that I expected.
