Description

Kodak ColorPlus 200 is a versatile medium-speed daylight-balanced color negative film, characterized by its fine grain structure, high sharpness, and rich color saturation. Although the specific details aren’t clear, it appears that the technical specifications of Colorplus and Gold diverged in the late 80s as technology improvements were added to Gold, but Colorplus was left as the budget option. In April 1880, Eastman leased the third floor of a building on State Street in Rochester, and began to manufacture dry plates for sale.

I was initially very disappointed with the grain until I realised that Unsharp Masking (USM) plus Clarity that I would usually apply to a digital file when processing in Affinity Photo brings out the grain to an alarming extent. I agree with Francis R that Fuji Color is a bit better on greens but overall I like CP better than FC. With 24 exposures this is a great option for photographers on a tight budget or people testing new or refurbished cameras. A larger objective diameter allows more light to enter the binoculars, resulting in brighter images, especially in low-light conditions. A comparison I made with both films shot on the same sunny day and processed and scanned at the same lab, delivered results (from Olympus OM (50mm lens)) that were virtually indistinguishable, unless pixel peeping.com are the exclusive property of the named author (except where stated otherwise) and are protected by copyright.

There is still a depth and some saturation to the blues, but they can drop in luminance, as you might notice in the images below. Better yet, using it in bright and sunny conditions as mentioned earlier will give a vibrant and contrasty look, while retaining some of the vintage aesthetic to the colour rendition Overexposing a little can lift the shadows and boost the colours while decreasing perceived grain. Some of the boxes were a bit damaged but the actual film was protected so the actual film was all good.

We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. Paired with a flash, it captures night shots perfectly, and even adds that nostalgic and vintage look that so many are looking for.To enquire about selling or part exchanging any items, please complete our online form and ensure you select 'Selling / Part Exchange' within the enquiry type dropdown. Colorplus 200 is a medium speed, budget 35mm film option based on an older emulsion compared to it's Kodak peers.
