Halfeti is an oudy, warm and spicy woody scent that smells really expensive. I absolutely love it but I am always very careful to use a small amount. I actually really enjoy it on my partner too. It’s a great unisex scent with a multitude of personalities.

And the great thing about the hair fragrance is that you get a little waft of it every time you move your hair, and the breeze blows on it, which just makes you feel very elegant and company-ready! Again, the other notes here are subtle; it's more about how they blend with the leather. Babylon eau de parfum is another unisex fragrance from Penhaligon’s Trade Routes collection. I had a feeling this would be too masculine, spicy and woody for me and it was. It’s a warm, wintery scent that you may like it you like perfumes that are heavy on the spice and wood.

Of the three, Halfeti is the only one which I'd wear all year. Both Halfeti Leather and Cedar feel more appropriate for the colder months. Halfeti Cedar, in particular, is going to be my winter partying fragrance of choice. This isn't a lie either - Winston Churchill was apparently an avid wearer of their 'Blenheim Bouquet', and James Bond associated himself with them in the Ian Fleming novels. It'd be fair to say, therefore, that Penhaligon's as a brand can be described as traditional and critics (...me!) might call some of their older fragrances 'dated'. This is no doubt a beast mode fragrance and one of my best performing. I get an easy 10+ hours of wear from this with only 3-5 sprays. My Mum and I said this is more masculine and much heavier than the original Halfeti and that neither of us would wear it. Whereas my Dad said it was more unisex, liked it and would wear it. This is quite peppery, strong and obviously has juniper berry. I personally think it’s more on the masculine side than feminine and quite a strong fragrance. A little Juniper Sling goes a long way to spritz lightly! It’s on my miss list and not one I’ll try again. I've been road-testing these amazing fragrances for the past couple of weeks and have got to rekindle my love affair for both the orient and British perfume house Penhaligon's. HALFETI CEDAR

The staff weren’t the friendliest in the 1st Covent Garden store we went into and seemed inconvenienced by me coming in. It felt a bit like the scene in ‘Pretty Women’ where she’s snubbed shopping on Rodeo Drive. However, the second store in Covent Garden Market Piazza was much friendlier and more helpful. If you read my review of Atelier Cologne Oud Saphir ,you will know that I have a bit of a problem with the huge over-use of aoud in recent years. I'm a total Oud-a-phobe and in Halfeti it has been used in a familiar way: next to leather with a sprinkling of spice and some rose for good measure. The element that I enjoy most about the fragrance is the dry, herbal quality throughout, which reminds me of old apothecary chests filled with lavender sachets. There is nothing truly unique about the way in which Halfeti has been composed, yet there is no disputing its quality and rich texture. Penhaligon's scents are always beautifully composed, and Halfeti isno exception, although it is a bit predictableoud/rose/ wood perfume. With that being said, it is sure to have great appeal tothose who love and never tire ofthis genre.However, because it’s on the sweeter side I find it more of a feminine women’s perfume than a unisex scent. I actually really like Legacy of Petra and it’s on my Penhaligon’s fragrances favorites list for Winter perfumes.
