He chats to experts, road tests all his tips and even enlists the help of some special guests to help you find that one small thing that could really make a difference to how you feel every day.It was easy to pick up when I had a spare 10 minutes or so and implement things that aren’t too daunting into my daily routine. So Dr Mosley gets a pat on the back just for being a clear communicator with some scientific rigor behind him. He is the author of The Fast Diet, The 8-Week Blood Sugar Diet, The Clever Guts Diet and The Fast 800. From personal anecdotes about the author, to their upsells for further products or unnecessary scene setting, there’s a often a great deal of fluff and a little bit of wisdom. This is a book, then, that will tell you how, when, and why to, amongst other things: stand on one leg; finish your shower with a burst of cold; eat fermented food; fast overnight; eat oily fish; delay your morning coffee; sing; learn to do something new; eat an apple; put plants in your room; stand up; eat dark chocolate; read fiction; and count your blessings. This is not intended to be a full statement of all your rights under the Distance Selling Regulations. Having enough vitamin D can also boost your immune systems, making that common cold easier to recover from. Small changes, many asking for 10mins or less, you can adopt as new habits, backed up by evidence of why they're good.Michael takes a break to brew up a cup of green tea, warming up to its distinctive taste and its health benefits. If you're looking for easy to read instructions then the text delivers, however, if you expected detailed conclusions and references there is much to be left desired. In fact most of the ideas improve your mood and sleep, how your brain functions, and reduce anxiety, stress, fatigue and depression and so on. We all want quick and easy ways to improve our health, but when it comes to diet, fitness and wellbeing it can be hard to separate the facts from the fads. Great tips for a healthy life and will look forward to beetroot and chocolate, water, apples, push ups, squats, balancing, exercise snacking, intelligent exercise, my coffee, mindfulness, dancing…… highly recommend this quick read to start off a new year of health and happiness.

I find it quite easy at night time to watch two episodes of a favourite show back to back without moving on the couch, but since I started standing more often and interrupting this period of slothing and relaxing, I have noticed an improvement. I highly recommend ‘Just One Thing’ if you are interested in a healthier life but feel intimidated by all the information out there. Other ideas that were new to me are things like drinking coffee, which lowers the risk of strokes, heart disease, cancer and dementia, and eccentric exercise – which involves walking downhill, down stairs and lowering weights, which have been shown to be more effective than running uphill, up stairs and lifting weights. Working to improve our health can sometimes be hard work, so it’s important to also make time for enjoyment!

If a refund or reimbursement is payable to you, we will transfer the money using the same method originally used by you to pay for your purchase. We hear the top tips that Professor Lord swears by to reduce the damaging effects of inflammation on our body. I was keen to read Just One Thing by Michael Mosley because I’ve enjoyed his TV programmes and I wasn’t disappointed. He then decided to move into medicine, intending to become a psychiatrist, studying at the Royal Free Hospital Medical School, now part of UCL Medical School.

Also read by the author and I have to keep replaying during the day because his lovely voice sends me off to sleep after 5 minutes at night! I feel like this book could've saved half its pages by cutting out the repeated quotes and large titles. Plenty of pragmatic advice in this one on how small changes to lifestyle can have big and lasting impacts to your health. That said it is still a good book if you are looking for some health tips you can easily integrate into your life. I was shocked to read about the direct relationship between longevity and the ability to stand on one leg with your eyes closed. About the Author: Dr Michael Mosley trained as a doctor before becoming a journalist and television presenter. I just started listening to this podcast and have really been enjoying all of the tips which can be easy to incorporate into my busy lifestyle.
