Tape around any areas you don’t want to paint, using masking tape. The tape keeps the window free of paint. We painted the frame of the window too, on the inside… And just the door of the outside. Make sure you leave the door open as long as you can before closing it. Painting Tips for a Good Finish Ensure surfaces are in suitable condition for painting - clean, dry, free from wax, grease or penetrating substances and in sound condition. If previously painted, remove loose or flaking paint.

Porous, or ‘thirsty’, surfaces like bare wood or MDF, tend to absorb paint meaning additional coats are likely to be required to achieve a durable finish. In this case, your 500ml tin will provide less than 3.5m 2 of full coverage. If you apply the paint too thinly, durability may be affected. A 500ml tin will provide a coat of up to 7m 2. For a durable finish, a minimum of 2 coats is required, so your 500ml tin should provide full coverage for 3.5m 2 on non-porous surfaces like laminate or metal. Now it’s time to get painting! You might like to watch our video guide to painting UPVC doors as the painting process is the same. I’m not so delighted with the finish though. The first coat went on OK but then it went all lumpy and bobbly: imagine dipping gloss paint into cotton wool, and dragging it around, and you’ll get an image of how bad the finish was. I fully accept that this may have been user error, but given how difficult I found this paint to work with, I can’t recommend it. Our uPVC door with one coat of Zinsser All Coat Exterior Satin paint looks fine. After two coats, it’s gone horribly lumpy. It looks a bit like wood grain. How I Solved the Door Paint Problem Chalk and mineral paint formulated for wooden furniture. Also suitable for laminate, powder coated radiators, UPVC, ceramic wall tiles (we recommend avoiding very wet areas like shower/bath surrounds). Here is some useful information about painting tiles. Can be used for internal walls – in this case, thinning with up to 10% tap water is advised to ease application.

Use masking tape to cover any fittings on or surrounding the door that you don’t want to get paint on. It is also worth covering any glass panels with cardboard or polythene. I get lots of comments from people who are amazed that it’s possible to paint uPVC as it’s made of plastic. As you can see, it is possible, but it does take time and patience. If you’ve ever wondered how to makeover your uPVC front door using paint, read on for my guide on how to transform an old plastic front door. Reseal tin after use. Clean up any spills immediately with water. Wash brushes/rollers in warm, soapy water.

Put down little dishes of bicarbonate of soda to help absorb the paint smell. A few halved onions also do the same. I did both and I think it really helped the smell to go.Dusky Blush, χρησιμοποιώντας είτε πινέλο, είτε ρολό, είτε πιστόλι βαφής. Προτείνουμε, η πρώτη στρώση να είναι πολύ λεπτή και αραιή. Rust will need treatment, whilst any algae, mould or moss should be removed. These can generally be removed with outdoor cleaning solutions. Most importantly, always wear protective gear, including a mask and rubber gloves, when cleaning mould. What do I need to paint a wooden door? That said, it’s important to know how to paint a wooden front door before you get started. In this post, we’ll cover all bases with tips on what you’ll need, preparing your surface and painting the door for the best results. Choosing the right paint

A 2.5l tin will provide a coat of up to 35m 2. For a durable finish, 2 coats are required, so your 2.5l tin should provide full coverage for approximately 17.5m 2 on non-porous surfaces. Thinner application may affect durability. Porous surfaces will affect the rate of coverage and require additional coats. Curing time is up to 2-3 weeks in normal conditions. Treat the newly painted surface with care until then. When your door is dry, very carefully peel off the masking tape around the windows (use a craft knife to cut it at the edges if it seems to be pulling the paint away). Avoid painting in direct sunlight, only when the air and surface temperatures are between 10 oC and 32 oC and humidity is less than 85%. Do not apply if, in the following 48 hours, there is likelihood of rain, frost, fog, condensation or if the temperature is likely to drop lower than 10 oC. This means that certain times of the year are unsuitable for painting outside projects - as a general rule of thumb Summer is recommended.Reseal tin after use. Ensure surfaces are in suitable condition for painting and clean, dry, free from wax, grease of penetrating substances and in sound condition. If previously painted, remove loose or flaking paint. Fill any holes/imperfections with a suitable filler. Surface preparation required in addition to the above – clean with Frenchic Sugar Soap, rinse and dry thoroughly. Hand-sand sufficiently to abrade the surface. Wipe off any dust, paint away! For a great demonstration, see our video.
