There are a few different forms of attraction. When it comes to orientation, we usually refer to romantic attraction (who you have strong romantic feelings for and desire a romantic relationship with) and sexual attraction (who you want to engage in sexual activity with). When church leaders refer to “the Bible” or “the Scriptures”, they usually mean “the Bible as we understand it through our theological doctrines”. The Bible is always interpreted by our churches through their particular theological lenses. It is always difficult to select verses from the Bible and hold them up as the true word of God if you are going to ignore other opinions which are now considered old fashioned or incorrect. It is obvious that never the twain shall meet on this one. They should split their church now & stop clogging up valuable news time, time which should be spent on relevant subjects to modern life. So, a section of a dwindling church does not agree with homosexuality? - Fair enough, but society at large has accepted it has a normal human condition. Let's move on & leave them to it.For decades, church leaders have been working to reconcile the church with the modern world, and Francis is stepping in places where other Catholic bishops have already trodden. In the meantime, let me offer some advice for talking with your friend.
