What has kept me hooked is the undetectable and surprisingly lightweight spray. No matter how many times I spritz, it never settles or clings to my roots (which is one of my major pet peeves). Once blow-dried, I am always stunned by the lift and body it brings to my limp lengths; my hair looks plump at the roots and flows down the sides of my face with a bouncy wave. Ultimately, the first four Olaplex products are your SOS steps for bleached or heavily heat-styled hair. But its offerings don’t end here – there are other products in the range that can be used to boost the efficiency of the salon treatments. Like many areas of life – say, marathon training or learning to surf – you aren’t going to see results instantly, and the same rule applies to your hair. Ultimately, the outcome will depend on how strictly you follow your Olaplex routine. Stay loyal to this system and you'll soon see the difference. Trust me, when it comes to Olaplex, you can believe the hype.

They can be used regularly depending on the extent of hair damage, which can then be lessened once the damage has been rectified. From there, they can be used to combat future damage from heat styling,’ he explains. Now stepping into the at-home arena, No.0 is a primer that should be applied from roots to ends before slathering on the No.3 mask. This isn’t a necessary step in the Olaplex system but is an additional one you can take to maximise its benefits. No.1 is a solution-based treatment that works to repair damaged hair. It’s a concentrated first step that hairdressers use to lessen the unwanted effects of chemical dyeing such as brittleness and breakage. It can also be added to glosses and toners. Olaplex No.2 Bond Perfector The first thing I noticed after spraying is that the mist gave my damp hair a slightly matte feeling. My strands lost some of their slippery texture that was left over from conditioning and it was obvious to the touch that I had product in my hair. However, it did not feel at all heavy on my head, so I hoped that after it had settled in and dried that the matte texture would disappear. There are also a few new Olaplex launches outside of the treatment realm that have been met with fanfare, including the new volumising mist and lash serum. So, here's a run-down of all the different products. Olaplex No.1 Bond MultiplierStart by using the No.3 mask once a week and the shampoo and conditioner every other hair wash. You can then amplify their efficacy by using the No.7 Bonding Oil as a post-wash styling treatment. I wouldn't go as far as to say that I was blown away by this product—though I'd caveat this by saying I try a lot of hair care products as part of my job!—but I think that existing Olaplex fans and those who like to invest in their haircare products will enjoy this newcomer. While I did initially think its name suggested more of a root-lifting volumizing spray, the product is more of an all-rounder that smooths, holds, and adds a little volume and body. It’s not particularly moisturizing, so bear in mind that you’ll need to get this from other steps in your haircare and styling routine if your hair has a level of dryness. I'm looking forward to continuing to experiment with it in my routine.

After fully drying my hair, the results really impressed me. Not only did my hair appear significantly more volumised than it would usually be, but it also had a gorgeous shine that I am not used to seeing, indicating the health of my hair even after using my drier on its hottest setting. If you've been debating air drying vs blow drying because you don't want to damage your hair with heat, this product will eradicate that fear. The No.0 treatment and No.3 mask are add-on treatments your hairdresser might suggest you use at home. ‘They give the user the ability to continue repairing their hair whenever they'd like', says Tom. Yet despite its worldwide recognition, the same questions still circle the internet: is Olaplex actually good for hair, and how should you use it? I have never been the biggest fan of heat protectant or styling sprays, as both tend to leave a gritty texture in my hair or make it look even more dry than it is. The Olaplex Volumising Blow Dry Mist has completely changed my perception. Giving me expensive looking hair with nothing more than a few spritzes and a rough dry, it couldn't be easier. The formulas are powered by a compound called bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate (rolls off the tongue, doesn't it?) which fuses compromised bonds that have been damaged by chemicals, thermal heat, or mechanical factors like vigorous brushing. Made with pea peptides, which are said to provide volume, moisture and strength to the hair, this product is also cruelty-free, vegan, gluten-free, nut-free, paraben-free, phosphate-free and phthalate free - quite the lineup. Achieving bouncy styles like 90s blowout hair is all about volume and shine that won't budge throughout the day, and these properties can help to achieve that look without damaging or compromising the hair whilst styling.

The Olaplex treatments are based around a patented active ingredient that seeks out and repairs the broken bonds in your hair fibres. As someone with fine, low-porosity hair, I always struggle to find a volumising product that works for me. It's not often they deliver the same result as shown on the model, or they’ll leave a residue that feels a little crispy once dried. When I see the word “volumizing” on any hair product, I usually run screaming. OK, that’s an exaggeration but when you have wavy, frizzy hair that grows larger throughout the day like I do, you’re not really looking for more volume. But I listened when hairstylist Teddy Charles told me that Olaplex’s new Volumizing Blow Dry Mist would be my new favorite for a bouncy blowout with actually less frizz. Unsurprisingly, he was right. Due to the unique bond-building technology that Olaplex uses, the ingredients in each product are quite complex. The Volumising Blow Dry Mist is no exception. I have now used so many Olaplex products that I can be sure it works well for my hair, so the ingredients in this mist weren't my priority when testing. However, it does boast a series of powerful properties. With heat protection up to 232 degrees celsius, plus technology to prevent frizz, cut drying time and add volume to wet or dry hair, it promises a lot. Much of the buzz also comes from its ability to protect your hair from the damage associated with harsh bleach, such as breakage and brittleness, before it happens.

I use the shampoo and conditioner for every other hair wash – as it’s a reparative treatment, you don’t need to overdo it. I then switch between my No.3 and No.8 hair masks once a week, and I’m never without the No.7 Bonding Oil to protect my hair from heat damage. Cleverly, it seeks out the broken bonds that may have been missed in step one and gets busy repairing them. See No.2 as a more concentrated version of No.3 (more on that to come), but not quite as punchy as No.1. Olaplex No.0 Intensive Bond Building Treatment That said, I noticed an instant improvement in the softness of my formerly straw-like hair after using the No.3 mask; I’d often catch myself twiddling my silky ends during the day, particularly after leaving it to marinate overnight.
