Mary Poppins herself is both more self-centered about her appearance as well as much crabbier to the children. People complained that Mary Poppins is not as magical as the Disney movie makes it seem, to which I remind you all again: DISNEY.No matter what is happening on Cherry Tree Lane, Mary Poppins and her magic can distract and/or make things better. Several losses and tears to jacket, mainly at edges and ends, otherwise a sturdy, attractive copy of this famous classic. If there were just the slightest hint that she actually cared about these children, I might be able to get on board, but she's just so unpleasant. She was made into a suffragette in the film to explain why she sometimes did not have time to look after her children.

Summary: Mary Poppins comes back on the end of a kite string, stays with the Banks family for a while, and then disappears on a merry-go-round horse. In my review of the first book i compared Poppins to the Discworlds' Granny Weatherwax but at this point she reminds me of Doctor Who, especially the early versions of the doctor. L. Travers wrote the Mary Poppins novels as a form of atonement for her inability as a child to save her own father from his own flaws. I re-read the first book when my first niece was about six (she’s 19 now), thinking I might want to give her the series. There are aspects of the second movie in this book and that was very cool - I am glad they used a lot of this book for that movie [which I also love; almost as much as the first one] as this book was a lot of fun.
