Description

It blends an exhaustive knowledge of fantasy fiction in books, film, television, comics and computer games (which works even for uninitiates) with a well-observed understanding of family relationships, sibling rivalry, friendships and the things that can be horrible about starting secondary school. He was born in Glasgow and now lives in Dorset with his wife, the novelist Natasha Solomons, and their son, Luke. That even the smallest of things (like going off to have a wee) could make you lose the chance of fame and living with the richest of people. When Luke is confronted with Stellar, his superpowered twin from another dimension, he is highly suspicious.

Winner of the British Book Industry Children's Book of the Year 2016 Shortlisted for the Sainsbury's Children's Book Awards 2016 My brother is a superhero, I could have been one too, except I needed a wee. This is a good book however i think that i would have enjoyed it more if there was a bit more action and mystery. If you had spent most of your 11 years on earth devouring comics and knew all there was to know about superheroes, their powers and arch enemies, wouldn t you be annoyed if your Maths nerd of an older brother was chosen to join their ranks?Siblings can be annoying, a responsibility, and the best person to team up with – or all of those things at once!

Rory Rooney is unremarkable in almost everything, apart from his capacity to attract the attention of the school bully. It involves another boy obsessed with superpowers: Luke, who missed the chance to acquire them because he nipped out for a wee.

Sara Ogilvie's illustrations add an even more warm, hilarious background to Earle's realistic family. While he's gone, an alien gives his undeserving, never-read-a-comic-in-his-life brother superpowers and then tells him to save the universe.

also, what is great about this is that it brings you in to this families life and makes you feel very special! It should have been Luke - superhero expert and comic-lover - who was given superpowers and instructed to save two universes. There are many other funny things about this book but this is just one thing you will enjoy about it.You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. David also won the 2018 Laugh Out Loud Awards (Lollies) with the second book in this series, My Gym Teacher is an Alien Overlord. Just when eleven-year-old Luke goes for a wee, his undeserving, geeky older brother meets aliens and gains SUPERPOWERS! What it reminds me most of is the TV show 'The Flash' when Wally West is jealous of Jessie Quick when she gets the power of speed and he doesn'.

Even if you do you are no where near the frustration of Luke the poor little kid who missed his chance of getting super powers because he needed to pee!In addition to his acclaimed children's fiction, David Solomons has been writing screenplays for many years - his first feature film was an adaptation of Five Children and It, starring Kenneth Branagh and Eddie Izzard.
