Description

Providing the same fire-fighting capabilities as a standard AFFF foam without any harmful effects on the environment or to life.

We hope this guide to the different types of fire extinguisher and which classes of fire they are used for has been helpful. To actuate the extinguisher, a seal was broken and the unit inverted, allowing the liquids to mix and react. They require no costly servicing, are 100% recyclable and maintenance is a simple, two step procedure that can be carried out by staff members on a monthly basis. Residents residing near the airbases were told to drink bottled water until more extensive testing could be carried out. Our engineer will certify and label the extinguisher and issue a certificate for your insurance compliance.

Fully compliant to all British and European Standards, these maintenance free fire extinguishers are non-corrosive and last 10 years. A service-free, non-corrosive, Kitemarked extinguisher ideal for small properties and passenger carrying vehicles. We strongly recommend ONLY using a CO2 extinguisher or a Dry Powder extinguisher for electrical fire risk.

Its role is to cool the fire and to coat the fuel, preventing its contact with oxygen, thus achieving suppression of the combustion. The foam suffocates the fire and seals the surface of the burning item, cooling it down as it seals.

A foam fire extinguisher, also known as Class B fire extinguisher, or sometimes as an AFFF foam fire extinguisher, is commonly used as a fire extinguisher for wood and paper fires, as well as for fires caused by flammable liquids. These particles ‘suffocate’ the fire and also create a wall of mist between the fire and the person using the extinguisher, reducing the feeling of heat. In any case, the paperwork that came with the item recommends the bracket be attached to wall with stone or wood behind it. The use of class A foam on a class B fire may yield unexpected results, as class A foams are not designed to contain the explosive vapours produced by flammable liquids.

It should be noted, however, that this does not include Class F fires, meaning those involving cooking oils and fats, or Class C fires, such as those involving flammable gases. Check that both gauges are in the green, remove the magnet from the base of the fire extinguisher and pass it over the gauges, making sure the needle moves and goes back into the green. All our portable fire extinguishers are supplied ready for use, but those with larger capacities may need to be filled and charged prior to the first time they’re used. AFFF (Aqueous Film Forming Foam) fire extinguisher is particularly suited to combat liquid spill fires such as petrol, oil, fats and paints. Secondly, they contain ‘Aqueous Film Forming Foam’ (this is why they are also known as AFFF foam extinguishers). Foam fire extinguishers are designed to extinguish Class A and Class B fires, which involve solid combustibles and flammable liquids. A foam fire extinguisher discharges a foam solution under pressure that forms a blanket or film on the surface of a burning liquid creating a barrier between the fire vapours and the air necessary to support combustion thereby smothering the fire.
