Expandability - I would like to be able to swap out my own custom trigger pads/cymbals/ hi-hat pedals, so it would be nice if I found a kit that has a brain with standard 1/4 in connections that would accept input from additional triggers.

If you really are serious about the game, and have the money to spend, you should check out the Ion drumset.

These can be either a Guitar Hero drum controller ( World Tour, Guitar Hero 5, or Logitech), or a Rock Band drum controller.

A bit of adjustment on the springy bit and a slightly thinner chunk of foamcore and we're fully rocking now. I haven't decided if/where to permanently place the Guitar Hero pads, but I thought I'd share what I came up with.Come join the discussion about computing, builds, collections, displays, models, styles, scales, specifications, reviews, accessories, classifieds, and more! But physical imperfections aside, the core aspects of the Guitar Hero kit's design and the design of its competitors ultimately come down to a matter of preference, which is almost always exclusively aligned one way or another. I've heard that alot about the earlier Rock Band controllers, and I can tell just by the look of the pads that the Guitar Hero controller is cushier and not that terrible hard plastic surface. If your red drum head is non-functional, or maybe your orange cymbal, or really any problem that the Activision support page doesn't address, this is the place to be.

Guitar Hero World Tour/ Metallica/ Smash Hits/ Van Halen: The Guitar Hero drum kit's orange cymbal would be merged with the Rock Band drum kit's blue pad. The pads and cymbals in the Band Hero drum kit already have piezo triggers and work fine for my needs. I'll never use them and it seems a shame to chuck them in the tip so, if any of the regulars in here (you low who you are ) want them, they're yours for nowt! Now I have a Roland TD-11KV, but my dad uses it more than I do, he was hating the look of it at first but when he hit the snare the first time he was on there for at least 3 hours straight LOL.The bumper-type units I fabbed could be easily made via injection molding with a bit of a slit clip at either end to avoid fasteners and drilling. I have changed the batteries several times, even putting in batteries straight from an opened-that-minute pack, and nothing. The drum pads are much, much quieter and have a great rebound to them (this is coming from what I've heard of it; I have not personally played on this drum set).

If you are looking for a good drum-kit for the 360 then grab this one, just be prepared to spend a bit of time getting used to how to hit them for Rock Band. The Guitar Hero World Tour and Rock Band 1/2 microphones will not work with any version of SingStar PS3. This was a great unique experience, we did this with two people and it was still really fun but I can imagine with 6 people the energy levels and enthusiasm is even more! Drumming is not so difficult after all, you just follow the dots projected on the wall (bit like in karaoke), get the rhythm and hit it.

The snare and two tom pads feature a dense, absorbent rubber-like material that quiets each strike of a drum stick, and repels it in a form comparable to a real-life drum kit. main pads are wired internally to the controller, the others (kick and cymbals) have the small earphone jack style plugs with a couple of spare sockets for extra pedals. The operation of the system seemed to be fine but there was a sizeable piece of black plastic broken off from it and laying in the bottom of the box. He wears a white sleeveless Audio-Technica shirt, blue shorts, black shoes, a red baseball cap, and black fingerless gloves. It appeared to have some sort of adhesive that was locking it in the place, albeit the "wrong" place.
