It seemed wise to be diplomatic, so I gave him a chance. “Stop this at once,” I told him, dodging his next slash, his next. Its so rare for me lately to find a book that I have this level of excitement for. It reminds me of those days when I was fangirling over Twilight and the Hunger Games. The days when I first discovered YA and everything was new and exciting. The space setting, the fascinating technology and the politics were all wonderfully done. It reminded me of the things I loved about the Red Rising trilogy.

The Empress takes place shortly after the events in the first book, the Diabolic (a book that I must preface saying that I ADORED) with Tyrus and Nemesis figuring out how to rule. We have a new problem added to the mix-a sceptar that controls and unifies the Chrysanthemum that can only be turned on with both the blood of a Domitirian and the vicar. With Nemesis besides Tyrus, the vicar refuse to support so they must find another way to get the sceptar working.

In The Empress, Gigi Griffis, with her elegant prose, has woven a mesmerizing tapestry of romance and court intrigue. From start to finish, I was held enthralled.” – Lorraine Heath, New York Times bestselling author

Meanwhile, in Austria, the emperor is recovering from an assassination attempt that left him wounded and scared. In a bid to keep the peace, Franz has recommitted himself to his imperial duties—and promised to romance the pliant Helene of Bavaria at his upcoming birthday celebration. How better to unite the empire than with the announcement of a new empress? A fresh, fast-paced take on a legendary woman and one of Europe’s most notorious royal love stories—guaranteed to win Sisi new fans.” - Evie Dunmore, USA Today bestselling author of Bringing Down the Duke Though she reigned in the 19th century, Sisi feels refreshingly modern as a character. How much of that is your own interpretation of her? Did you learn anything about her that surprised you? That. Ending. It changes everrrrrrrything. In a good and bad way. I'm so curious as to how Kincaid is going to go about book three. I'm hoping for one thing, but that thing seems impossible. But knowing our hero, and knowing our heroine, nothing is impossible. This book made my heart race, made me happy and made me angry...... a lot. Life doesn’t always go smoothly; we don’t always get what we want. Sometimes evil prevails. If you give the people knowledge they will want more and then use that knowledge against you.” - Pasus I am looking forward to the last book in the trilogy, and I think I’m probably going to want to re-read this in the future! Every major figure in the galactic media of Eurydice received a personal message from Tyrus. He’d greeted each of them, and his words included the “coded language” indicating they were to support me cheerfully in public.

I made up my mind. I walked over to my intended’s sole living relative. As my shadow slid over her, her foggy gaze rose to mine. Chris Megson is Senior Lecturer in Drama and Theatre at Royal Holloway, University of London. He has taught and published widely in the field of modern drama, and is editor of The Methuen Drama Book of Naturalist Plays. Kincaid’s New York Times bestselling novel, The Diabolic that TeenVogue.com called “the perfect kind of high-pressure adventure.” Speaking with Tatler, celebrated photographer Cyrus Mahboubian - who’s of Iranian heritage and has been presented to the Empress- remarks: ‘Regardless of whether Donna Stein’s role in building the collection was pivotal or only peripheral, let’s not forget that Iran is a country with thousands of years of civilisation and artistic output.’ But having power isn’t the same thing as keeping it, and change isn’t always welcome. The ruling class, the Grandiloquy, has held control over planets and systems for centuries—and they are plotting to stop this teenage Emperor and Nemesis, who is considered nothing more than a creature and certainly not worthy of being Empress. Nemesis is again this stories single POV character and she proves as likeable and unusual as ever. She still has some of her Diabolic nature but is trying to learn to be more human. I loved following her story as she tried to balance the morals of being human with her need as a Diabolic to keep Tyrus safe at any cost. Now, here we were at this first real test of whether my public image was being received as Tyrus hoped. With Excess in the audience, they’d hopefully be too amazed to find themselves at this great event to bother dwelling on who—or rather, what—I was.
