Thank you NetGalley, Tantor Audio and Recorded Books for sharing this audiobook with me. This is a story you don't want to miss. Isolde,” he repeated quietly, and when I finally met his gaze, his stare was gentle. “You are my light.” I took his face between my hands. “You are my darkness,” I said and kissed him.” This chapter of Queen of Myth and Monsters was written from Adrian’s point of view. Like Isolde, he was constantly yearning for a brutal battle that would endanger the kingdom. He was currently on the witch’s territory, but their spells couldn’t touch him because he had been trained to kill. In the end, he was successful, and as he turned to go after casting one last glance, a grin appeared on his lips. This story twists so much that it blurs the line between good and evil, you're not quite sure which side anyone is on. The betrayals are surprising and I actually liked this book even more than the first. It is still a lot of spice but there was a much more captivating plot and it kept me hooked throughout. He is a perfect example of a madman. In Queen of Myth and Monsters, his persona is rife with violence and hatred. His terrible past had sharpened him to anger. Peace is not in his vocabulary.

They both have the habit of just killing people to kill then over tiny insults. Things normal people who may be vampires would just ignore. I completely agreed about the points you made here. I loved the first book but this one fell kind of flat for me. I found myself forcing though the book so I can get to the resolution part. Throughout the whole book I didn’t like the way Isolde’s personality/character evolved. I felt she was a bad a** in the first book but this one I kept reading it like “why would you say/do that?” But I also felt like her only way to solve issues with Adrian was to have sex, weird to me. I was also wondering where Miha went the whole book but I may not have remembered if she was mentioned in the beginning and didn’t play a role until mentioned right at the very end. Thank you so much to Bloom Books & Netgalley for providing an advanced copy of this. All thoughts and opinions are still my own.Queen of Myth & Monsters (Adrian X Isolde #2) by Scarlett St. Clair Narrated by Lilly Drake; Curt Bonnem (audiobook review) They have sex (not always intercourse) 11.5 times in the main book (.5 for a hypothetical but described sex scene) and !THREE times in just the bonus scene at the end alone. And they fight at least once between almost every single one of those scenes. I can only think of one, maybe two sex scenes that felt natural for the moment and actually intriguing. It’s all just so repetitive and basic and truly overwrought. Isolde laments not being able to do magic like she used to, despite the fact that she most likely can. Most likely because she suppressed those abilities after remembering being burned alive in a previous life. that being said, there was never a point where i wanted to DNF this. like, yes, the poor storytelling is annoying, but im still invested? i dont know why, but i am. They gradually began to clash. Their choices are made independently of one another, but eventually, for reasons of power and vengeance, they will be forced to work together. Is it possible that love will triumph over their darkness, or are they destined to simply learn to live with it?

Killian has a complete character makeover where he's gotten over Isolde and he's actually a nice guy again? Good for him. To quote Scarlet, the author, “Everyone in this book is suffering, and I think the hard part is trying to decide if you are really against anyone because they all have their motives—but that’s the interesting part of being morally grey, and in a lot of ways, I hope you struggle to decide.” My next question is, if mirror’s tell the truth, how did Raveena stay within the castle that whole time and no one noticed her in the mirror?this sequel suffers terribly from second book syndrome, and yet, i never wanted to stop reading this? so im conflicted. so heres me hoping the next book will be better, but im also preparing myself in case it probably isnt. who knows. As much as I loved this I’m so pissed about all the questions it leaves us with. I understand that that’s how series work but I have no patience whatsoever so….it’s gonna be a long wait 😅 I have never read a series like this since Fever! I don’t know what to think or feel or what the hell I just read!! All I know is that Adrian & Isolde have my heart and the love they have for each other makes me weak. I went into this book thinking I had a clue only to have the script totally flipped. I don’t know anything and that is the sign of a phenomenal writer.
