It does have a zingy hint of citrus, perhaps from the orange blossom, this is why to me, it is fresher as in less sweet than other similar perfumes, but it is in the same 'family' of 'feeling' as, for example, Narciso Rodriguez for Her and Elie Saab Le Parfum - my favorite references. It is not sugar sweet or loud, just very potent and warm - colder than the two, but definitely not cool. This was blind buy on a whim at TJ Maxx. It has green floral opening with big lily of the valley and bit of a rose and tuberose. Its VERY floral, very what I would call "classic floral", green but yet has a bit of spice- white sundress, garden, wearing big hat, tea time, those are sort of images that I get. Its not what I usually go for but i do like it quite a bit. I don't find it dated even though its 25 years old and can be found very cheap. Arden still sells this scent because its THAT popular for a reason. I think Gabrielle Essense by Chanel has sort of same vibe even though its not same scent but I have worn them together and it works well and they compliment each other(I tend to layers 2 or 3 scents all the time) These are different, but my first impression of JFV was that I was smelling 5th avenue, and there is a similar vibe with a forward magnolia with citrus touches. 5th Avenue is the closest scent profile to JFV that I've smelt, but 5th Avenue is a stronger performer that can also be layered over its matching body lotion, making it appropriate for cooler weather. Amber dances in and settles with the violet and sandalwood, giving this woodsy combo a bit more sunlight, so it smells less woodsy and more sweet-honey. Not cloying, but lightly sweet. It lingers this way on my skin, at least. The silage differs depending on where I put it. It doesn't last as long wafted onto my torso (about an hour or so), but it has lasted a good 6 hours on my wrists.

The ones that do come forward are the florals. The fruits and spices have supporting roles and don’t take the main stage. Surprisingly this fragrance isn’t powdery to my nose at all. With lilac, violet, Iris, musk and rose all being present, I would expect it to be at least somewhat powdery in nature, but there’s no powder whatsoever, it’s dewy. That’s the only word to describe this with. It’s the dewy quality that keeps this so fresh and youthful, if it had actually been powdery, then it may well have felt like a very mature fragrance. It would have lost its happy, sunny character, but this dewy freshness keeps it alive, sparkly and bubbly. All that being said, I still like it. There's really no reason not to.. if you're thinking of blind buying just to add it to your collection, do it. It certainly has its place on your shelf, and may pair well by layering it with something else that could possibly pull out it's true hidden beauty. I just wish it wasn't so hidden. I've had it on for an hour and it's basically gone. The color of the spray nozzle. Older versions usually have gold spray nozzles that match the cap and collar of the bottle. At first, I thought maybe just tester bottles had the white atomizer but some of the 5th Avenue flankers and perfumes like Pleasures also have altered, white nozzles. I believe it’s after Revlon bought EA that they started doing this so it does help to narrow the search. The second fragrance I tested again today was Tiffany. My little daughter accompanied me and I gave her both hands to sniff. Which one's better? The one that smells like good flowers, the other one's angry. The good flowers were My 5th Avenue.

It stays for long, but very close to my skin. Which is perfect for me in a day wear scent. I don't want to be the type of girl who leaves a chemtrail behind. I have high sensitivity, so it would actually keep bothering me during the day. Some can say it's boring, but let me assure you, you will stand out of the crowd of edible fruity floral scents. I feel elegant and even old-fashioned in it, even if I'm in my adidas sweatpants. I think it's for a woman who doesn't try to impress every person she meets, but can't be bothered to be a non-conformist either (it's me lol). I think it's a very polite scent if you work with people. This is how Chanel Chance flank-o-rama should smell imo. It's nice just after the shower, but far from sexy, so save it for solo nights, or quiet movie nights in. Maybe men would love this on you because it's so weak/mild? Many men don't like stronger scents. This might remind them of their mother though, so I definitely wouldn't recommend this for a first date. Though it's likely a safe perfume for any occasion you choose to wear it to. I'd hate to call it "boring", but it's just short of it. Certainly won't turn heads or be remembered. If you wore this to a special event you may feel underdressed. Anyway, this is a modern classic from 1996, but it smells like it's even older. Something about 5th A. reminds me of Chanel No. 5 and Giorgio, too.It is not "sexy", if that is what you are looking for. It is however, "sensual". There is a difference. "Sexy" inclines a "I want you to think of me in bed", "sensual" also inspires lust, but it isn't the only thing a guy is going to get out of you when he sees you. My ex boyfriend says this makes him think of me like this. Playful, but also to take me seriously. I am proud to call this my signature fragrance. I may search for other fragrances to play around with, but this will always be my constant. Classification of the top note (with the help of the fragrance pyramid) Ozonic notes, yes, that's very good. Heart notes : Lotus and jasmine, find the lotus triumphs over the jasmine, so the fragrance is not too sweet but looks nice and clean. Base slightly woody, what exactly, my nose is simply too little trained for that. Normally I appreciate the Ardens for their easy going attitude, which makes them uncomplicated in a pleasant way.

The Vintage is completely different. It is much stronger, it starts with a blend that is more lemon-like, bitter, sour. With my chemistry, the Vintage starts with a blend that smells as if cassis has been added to the formula, which is one of the only chemicals that causes my skin to turn acidic almost like cat urine. I can't wear this Vintage blend as well as the newer blend. I will preface this review by saying that I like this fragrance and find it fairly bubbly, joyous and jubilant. It smells like springtime in New York as the name would have one believe and it is a very pleasant and feminine perfume. Hello dears ! Here's my long overdue comment on one of my favorite fragrances from Elizabeth Arden - a perfume and cosmetics brand that seems down-to-earth and rather reserved compared to other brands. Some of the fragrances' prices are ridiculously low. One reason, perhaps, why they don't get nearly as much reputation as they deserve. I think that this is a way to sell the fragrances below value. The Vintage blend does not harmonize with my chemistry as well as the newer formula. This is a first, because I normally like the Vintage version much more than the newer formula. In this case, they have really improved the formula where it is much more wearable. Bravo! (And NO, this is not mentioned where perfumers start changing the original formulas -- because this is TOTALLY RARE that I would like the newer formula as well or better than the original). My in-laws used to own an apartment on Fifth Avenue, near Washington Square, and I can assure you that the real 5th Avenue doesn't smell anything like this. The real 5th Avenue smells like most major cities in the U.S.--like car-exhaust fumes and (intermittently) like garbage and/or restaurant food. Maybe every once in a while some glammed-up blue-blooded gal straight out of a Frank Sinatra song stalks down the sidewalk and you catch a whiff of her perfumed hair, and perhaps the perfume smells like linden and lilac, and that is 5th Avenue to you--this magical reprieve from the usual urban odor, an evanescent glimpse of the good life (although the vintage version of the perfume is reputed to be "eternal"--if only my bottle was!) For me, 5th Avenue is one of those perfumes that you probably get for Christmas or a birthday. You don't hate it, but you don't love it. But you like it enough to keep it around and on stand-by, for days when you know you don't want to go out without wearing a perfume, but you don't want to waste your really expensive stuff, or use up any of your go-to everyday scents. You just want to have a pleasant smell on you that will stop you being fragrance-naked, but won't attract any attention. In terms of'lightness', it is the perfect balance between Aqua di Gio, and Armani Si. It's fresh-creamy, not fresh, not creamy, in between. This scent to me is...pleasant. It's nice. It's inoffensive, can be worn by women of any age and I think rather than being a fragrance that wears the person, is really just one of those scents that you wear, without it defining anything about you. It's not incredibly weak. Nor is it incredibly strong. And for a fragrance with so many notes, it's very well blended. But it's never going to set the world on fire. Not my world anyway.
