Thanks for the responses. I have set all 5 cycles on the thermostat. TRV are on max setting in the living room where I keep the thermostat. At 10pm the thermostat will hit the 5th cycle and should tell the boiler to maintain a room temp of 5c. I am currently in the living room with the rads very hot to the touch and a reading of 22.5c so I would expect the boiler to switch off the CH mode and the heat to leave my rads. I am actually going to go and watch the boiler at 10pm to see what/ if anything happens. If my rads are still boiling hot at 11 then I know the Salus thermostat is bloody useless!!! READ NEXT: Common thermostatic shower problems and fixes. Common SALUS Wireless Thermostat Problems If you genuinely can’t find an issue with your thermostat but you also can’t get heat, it’s time to look at what it’s controlling. While nobody wants to hear this, sometimes the easiest solutions aren’t the ones that are needed. Have a professional take a look and diagnose the issue. The most common SALUS wireless thermostat problems come from old batteries, poor connection, and the distance between the thermostat and receiver . If a wireless thermostat is on the same radio frequency as yours (for instance, your neighbour), they’ll effectively, be controlling your heating system. And some cheap wireless thermostats don’t have an option to switch this frequency.

I have tested the device to make sure the transmitter is working with the receiver and the green light on the receiver does come on when a request to raise the temperature is sent, but I have never seen the green light on when I have either manually asked to drop the temp or when the program changes to say a "maintain 10c cycle" eg overnight.Your SALUS device will have two lights on it - one red, and one green. These serve to indicate whether your devices are paired (connected) and if neither is on that's a sign of one of two things. First, the batteries may be dead - see the above section. Second, it's unpaired itself, which happens from time to time.

The Salus RT 520 RF features a wireless receiver that allows communication with the thermostat from anywhere within the home. This means that users can conveniently control their heating settings from any room without the need for wires or cables. The wireless functionality also makes installation hassle-free. Smart homes are the future, and with that future comes wireless smart thermostats for your home. Unfortunately, it would appear that the future still comes with technical issues. If you're having SALUS wireless thermostat problems, you're not alone. These are generally rather easy fixes - so don't stress too much. Worst case, SALUS has a great customer service team that's ready to help you out. The Salus RT 520 RF thermostat is a home heating control system that provides efficient temperature regulation. Designed to be user-friendly, this thermostat allows homeowners to easily adjust and customize their heating preferences. There are lots of cheap and efficient wireless programmable room thermostats on the market, and the Salus RT500RF is one of the very best.Hi. I have just had a Gloworm 30 CXI Ultracom 2 installed with a Salus RT500RF Wireless Programmable Thermostat to control temperature. All my radiators have TRVs and I have noticed that the Salus is not switching the boiler off or stopping flow to the rads when it should be. Eg at 10pm I am asking to it maintain a room temp of 10c, the Salus thermometer is reading the room temp circa 22c after the heating has been on, but the boiler is still in central heating mode and the rads hot all night. Turn off the mains supply to the receiver, which means the mains supply, not just the slider switch on the front. There are three common issues that arise with SALUS wireless thermostats. Batteries, connection, and location. They're all the same issues that you'll experience with other wireless devices like phones, earbuds, and other smart home devices. In fact, we have another article detailing how to troubleshoot a wireless doorbell that could likely help here, as well. This switches the heating on and off. The control centre will then operate the temperature sensing and control side of the thermostat.

When OpenTherm is connected, the device software will automatically adjust to the OpenTherm settings. The downstairs Salus thermostat seems to be calling for heat and the receiver switches 'on' but the boiler doesn't start, so the fault may not be with the Salus. If you are reasonably electrically competent there is a simple way to by-pass the Salus and find out. The biggest let down is the fact this is not a smart thermostat. Smart thermostats, although they’re a lot more expensive tend to allow more flexibility for your heating and hot water (especially in larger properties with zones), and that helps to improve efficiency. If those steps don't work, it's time to look at your connection and location. Sometimes problems will fix themselves when you put your devices in better homes, sometimes it won't do anything. The worst thing you can expect is to need to call a professional to ensure your more important home parts (like a boiler) are functioning properly. It's always better to ask for help than to flounder helplessly until you give up.
