Description

When it comes to durability, the Kamui puts on a decent show. It’s got sturdy, light aluminium legs and robust cordura fabric. Although I’m keeping an eye on the plastic connectors to see how they hold up over the long term. Granted, it’s hard to know what Kamui can do without compromising the strength of the fabric where you sit. But you should be aware that leaving this chair outside will make the material very wet, and it does take a couple of hours to dry. What I particularly appreciate about the Sportneer chairs are the handy loops at the fabric sections where the poles are inserted. These loops simplify the process of slotting in the poles without the risk of catching a finger as you’re stretching the fabric. A high-quality camping chair will last longerthan one made from low-grade material. These materials include steel and aluminum or dur-aluminum for the frame, and polyester, elastomeric mesh, or rip-stop nylon for the fabric. Your chair’s durability depends on the design’s material and quality. The more durable the chair, the longer you can use it. Size

As a final point, I must admit I’m not a huge fan of its colour scheme, but this is completely subjective and you may think differently! There are a few less essential extras, such as how the chair performs in the weather, the ease of cleaning the chair and the warranty. The material seems strong enough, and the 4 access points for the poles are reinforced to make it more sturdy. I've only given it 4 stars simple because plastic has been used, where if the framework reinforced Aluminium it would have received 5 stars. However, this isn't to say that it's rubbish or that you will have any problems...

Special offers and product promotions

The chair only comes in one size, but Kamui offers it in green or camo colours. Alternative camping chairs compared

I’ve put these chairs through the wringer – from high peaks to breezy coastlines – all to help you reclaim the fun (and some storage space) in your outdoor expeditions. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or just looking to enjoy a festival with minimal fuss, these chairs have got you covered. The chair leg pole connectors are made out of plastic which is a potential point of failure. I’ll update this review in the future if there are any issues. Other factors to consider From my perspective, I’ve seen no issues with durability. But I have deducted some marks because I’ve seen that some other people have had issues in the past. For example, a giant air bubble forming on the sleeping mat after inflating it for the first time or some people finding it deflates over time.Despite this, I’ve had an excellent experience with the Kamui camping chair, so unless there are any durability disasters, I don’t expect the overall message of this review to change. What’s in the box? Do you want a complex chair that will not wobble when used? A chair will most probably be harder to set up if it has more parts, like high or reclining camping chairs with additions. If your goal is easy usage, go for simple chairs or stools, you can lay them out with little effort. Weight Capacity To be fair to Kamui, they include a leaflet mentioning this in the carry bag and point out that the fabric will adjust over time (and it does). Adults should be fine, but children may need help until the material relaxes.

Camping chairs should be easy to set up. We’ll already have to set up a tent when we camp, so we don’t want anything that adds too much extra setup time. Overall, the Kamui camping chair provides excellent value for money. There aren’t any other camping chairs I currently recommend over it unless you’re very into ultralight wild camping. One of the big questions with all camping mattresses is will it deflate overnight? I didn’t experience this at all with the Kamui. It held up remarkably well, even after several days. The weight limit on a camping chair depends mainly on the chair’s frame. The manufacturer determines this by using a compression test. This makes the Helinox Chair Zero a worthy consideration for ultralight hikers who want to shave off any grams possible.

The Kamui chair comes in a carry bag, roughly the size of a typical toiletries bag. [8/10] Ease of setup I liked how firm the mattress could get. I personally love a firm mattress. But you can also use the nozzle on the side to easily let just a little air out and soften the mattress up if you wish. Every camping chair has a weight capacity, which tells you how much it can carry. Look for a camping chair that can carry your weight. If you buy a camp chair with a low weight capacity and still use it, the chair will break eventually. Most folding chairs have a weight capacity between 300 and 800 lbs or 135 and 360 kg. Extras DESIGNED FOR VERSATILE ENVIRONMENT: This outdoor chair includes larger feet that provide better stability, and prevent your chair from sinking into mud, sand or dirt. The feet at 4.5 cm in diameter are larger than other feet on the market and great feature for those post-rain picnics.

Kamui camping chair tech specs I have taken most of these measurements, so they might differ slightly from Kamui’s measurements. Technical Specification Another factor that affects comfort is the stability of the chair. The Kamui follows the same structural design as most of these lightweight chairs – two pairs of legs crossing in an X shape, a bar connecting the legs, and the tension of the fabric keeping you in place. Would I recommend the Helinox Chair One? Yes, I actually would. It’s an excellent chair with a sterling reputation. But if you’re at all price-conscious, I suggest you consider the Kamui chair a great alternative. My Kamui mat felt well made and sturdy. I can imagine it taking quite a lot of use over the years without getting damaged. Finally, I don’t score products based on their price since everyone has a different budget and different expectations, but I do cover my thoughts on the value for money the chair provides. [8/10] Portability and weight How much does the Kamui camping chair weigh? Measuring with my scales, I found that the chair weighs 978g, including the carry bag and all components. You can shave an extra 44g off by leaving the carry bag shoulder strap at home. This saves TONS of effort and you’ll no longer come out of the tent looking like you’ve run a marathon. If you’re used to conventional camping chairs that simply fold out, these lightweight chairs require a little extra setup. The weight savings have, in part, been made by reducing the height of the legs. This places you even closer to the ground. This might not be ideal if you have longer legs or struggle to get out of a chair.
