There are some problems with the DVD releases, for example they cut out one long intro from one of the later Dipesto/Viola episodes, I remember this was long and just filling in the running time, but why cut it out from the DVD? Bored on an all-night stakeout, Bert dreams how nice it would be to live with Agnes -- but is in for a rude awakening. It's clear that that different score was there in the print they used; the only question is where it comes from. In the meantime, guess I'll have to see if I can find my old Beta tape of it from the original broadcast.

On DVD, given a choice, I'd always go for picture over sound, especially when that picture is being blown up to fit a 65" screen. The series revolves around the cases investigated by the Blue Moon Detective Agency and its two partners, Madeline 'Maddie' Hayes (Shepherd) and David Addison (Willis). When originally aired, the chase at the end of this episode was scored to the "William Tell Overture. I'm guessing they went through a couple different versions during the original production and mistakenly didn't select the final version when making the DVDs. im hoping at some point we can get some official comment on this and posibly have it as a bonus episode in a later set.I can imagine putting on the William Tell music could've been a last-minute decision since it didn't involve clearing any rights. It made you feel like part of an exclusive little club -- which of course was a bit of self deception on our parts, because Moonlighting was a top twenty hit, with tens of millions of people watching it every week. And finally, on the same disc, there's a breezy, funny commentary by Allyce Beasley and Curtis Armstrong for Here's Living With You, Kid. I think some programs do have slightly altering lengths and I maybe wrong but you see a lot of series these days with the story finishing and them short scenes with music and clips of the characters and wonder if its fill in. The one thing that I was really pleased to see is that they kept all of the original music to the show (as best as I could determine.

The difference is that Caron was able to turn this standard guy-girl detective team plot on its ear and created a wonderfully funny and different type of TV show: Moonlighting. Jeder neuen Folge habe ich vor dem Fernseher entgegen gefiebert, und dann jede Minute davon genossen. And this means they're also a little more forgiving of the structural damage that was done to the show's premise, making allowances for these fatal compromises -- compromises that Caron and Willis decline to endorse. Ich bin allerdings froh dass ich alle Staffeln zu halbwegs akzeptablen Preisen bekommen habe und kann sie nur jedem empfehlen der alte Kult-Serien mit Charme und hohem Unterhaltungsfaktor mag!The series was shot like old-time Hollywood features, with beautiful lighting and set decoration, but unfortunately, I saw negative scratches, dirt, specks, and even a couple of splice jumps -- either someone didn't go to the vault for the original film elements for the DVD transfer, or there's trouble in the vaults.

The show doesn't have that old look to it that shows from the 80's sometimes have, where everything looks a little dull. The series revolves around the cases investigated by the Blue Moon Detective Agency and its two unlikely partners: ex-model Madeline Hayes (Shepherd) and detective David Addison (Willis). The actors obviously enjoyed working with each other during the show, and this great episode is perfect for their comments. The theme song in the beginning seems to be sung a bit quicker by Al Jarreau on the reg 2 copy as well but cannot tell which one is running at the correct speed. He hadn't had any other real work before this show (though he did appear in an episode of Miami Vice after he worked on Moonlighting, thought the Vice episode was aired first) but does a very credible job. When the show was being remastered from the original elements, the first score -- the rejected score -- was mistakenly used. Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd still have a lot of screen chemistry and their quick and witty banter is still very entertaining.
