There are also sections featuring the history of the design, tips for scarf construction, a gallery of scarves knitted by fans (and me) plus some fun ephemera. Made on a domestic knitting machine this piece takes several hours to complete, using a mixture of wool and acrylic yarns and a further few hours to sew up, fringe and complete , its double thickness to give a very warm and cosy feel to this fabulous scarf. In the 24th episode of the series Epic Rap Battles of History the Tenth Doctor is in a rap battle with Doc Brown from Back to the Future when he is shot by a Dalek and regenerates into the Fourth Doctor (played by George Watsky).

A lot of Doctor Who characters wore scarves though some of those were not adaptations of the original 4th Doctor scarf. From now until the end of the exhibition, we’re going to be knitting a stripy scarf in sections made by lots of different people.
