Secondly, it is easily a great choice for a kid who is just starting building with LEGO Technic, as well as for an adult fan who might be tired of larger Technic sets. They are part of the Technic aesthetic and we would all be a lot poorer, time-wise, if every pin was black! The first one is for building the arm with the shovel and the other ones are for building the rest of the vehicle; the bodywork, the suspension and the tracks. This 2 in 1 LEGO Technic Heavy-Duty Excavator (42121) toy has plenty of features for hours of creative play.

It's first and foremost a crane with an arm that you can make function remotely, that's at least tied with aesthetic concerns. There are 4 cones to manage the building site, plus extra LEGO® pieces to use as bricks for scooping up with the digger truck toy. I can see how a second copy of this set could be converted easily into a Pipe Layer, similar to the Volvo one. Construction machines are among the most numerous and popular Technic models, but it's been a few years since LEGO produced an excavator of this design. I don't have many Technic models (really just the 42039 24 Hours Race Car and 42057 Ultralight Helicopter), but I've always wanted an excavator of some kind and this looks like it will be perfect for my needs. Overall, I really like this particular construction vehicle Lego set because it comes with realistic functions.

However, thinking that this would primarily be aimed at the younger demographic I think it would have been better for them (and not only) to make it minifig scale since it's already close to it. As someone who has actually driven this kind of vehicle "for real", I can only say that the windshield is - in my opinion - a very reasonable approximation: in the places and settings these machines are used, things are dirty! The articulated arm is adjusted using two small linear actuators, one to raise and lower it, and another to adjust the angle of the end which, at the same time, causes the bucket to tilt.I said at the start that it is 'almost the perfect Technic model' but unfortunately the frosted windscreen prevents it from being faultless. I’m assuming you are talking about the Yellow Technic, Liftarm, Modified L-Shape Quarter Ellipse Thick 2 x 3, and just grabbed the wrong link?
