update we’ve discovered that the game only works while on WiFi. Im not sure if thats intentional. It would be nice if it was playable while we were out and about. ** Like the title says. We cant start the game without crashing. It loaded the first time but never again sense. We’ve reinstalled it. Hopefully a future update with fix this as the game was promising. & Im a huge fan of the physical board game. If it matters; Im on an iPhone X iOS 12.1.4. Unfortunately, Legends of Andor would not make my Top 10 Cooperative Games list if I redid it today.

The game scales well and I’d be happyto play it at any player count from 2-4. Expansions add a fifth and sixth player but I don’t think I’d ever play at that player count. It seems a bit messy to me. Even so, the option is there. Conclusion The production values of this game are outstanding, and we’re enjoying it quite a lot. We’re only on the third quest but am really getting the hang of it and getting into it. The view of the board is a thing of beauty. Great decisions during gameplay that lead to a satisfying experience. Highly recommend for fans of adventure and fantasy gaming. We have bought this game seeing that developers continue to update and improve it. Thank you and please continue the updates ! Games can be played between 60 and 120 minutes, depending on the number of players and which legend is being played. Finally, the game feels like a very thematic puzzle. You have to figure out how the monsters are going to move to determine where you should go. They move following arrows on the board and only one monster can occupy a space. If a monster lands on a space that is already monster occupied, it moves to the next space. This can lead to a train of monsters moving rapidly across the board, so you will need to figure out how to best derail that train.Saying that, the first legend is definitely a training legend. That’s not to say it isn’t fun but many of the rules are explained in this initial game which slows it down slightly. After that, the game gets into its stride. Each legend plays differently and feels like part of a larger story. They’re a lot of fun. The difficulty is set at a level where you’re always going to be up against time. The legend marker consistently gets close to that fatal final space. Legends of Andor is a little different from most board games I’ve played. Instead of distinctly feeling like either a euro game or an ameritrash game, it feels a lot like a role playing game. And that, for me, is a huge win. A story-driven adventure game, Legends of Andor strives to take you on a mythical journey, delivering one chapter of your legend each gaming session. And it does this quite well. Beginning with an introductory quest (called Legends in the game), the game walks you through the entire first adventure, giving you a turn by turn, play by play, rundown that teaches you everything you need to know. In fact, the first Legend is designed so that you don’t have to read any of the rules. You simply set up the game and read the first Legend card. The Legend cards tell you everything you need to do. Some players may be a little put off by this, as they are used to reading the entire instruction manual before diving into a game, but Legends of Andor is designed to get your gaming group playing as fast as possible. The intro adventure does its job amazingly well. Please do not get me wrong, it is a good game if you are looking for a story driven game, a lighter game to play with your family, new gamers or younger gamers, or to solve a very thematic puzzle. The only thing missing from the original board game is the cardboard. The UI is smooth and intuitive. A very faithful re-implementation of the board game. We love this game. We own the table top version and was excited to see it available for iOS. This app version was easy for us to learn and we were playing right away. We’re not sure how complicated it would feel for a new player. For example not every rule is explained in the tutorial or first campaign. However things the game is designed to start off relatively easy and ramp up from there. If you like strategic board games, this is for you. Expect a little up front rule learning. So far the story line it’s exactly like we remember from the physical game. You can adjust difficulty level though in case you have played before. We haven’t played enough to know if the iOS version has the same randomness built in to the ai as the physical board game (for example placement of certain things on the board based on dice rolls). This randomness is what gives the game replayability. So far we’re really happy with this version. Recommended!

The main gripe I had with Legends of Andor is replay value. There are five scenarios included with the game, one of which is mostly a tutorial. The events do add a random factor to the game, but not enough avoid a scenario feeling repetitive after more than two or three plays. The designer also included alternate, easier legend cards for some of the legends; however, if you are the type of player who doesn’t like to play on an easier mode, this will not help. Unfortunately, a random scenario generator was not included with the game, so many of the components that are only utilized in one scenario will remain that way, unless future expansions utilize them. We cant honestly find any weak point in this wonderful conversion of the original table board game. We find the journey more important of the final destination so we enjoy the fact of having to restart the legends from square 1 if failed. Wonderful graphic and sound as well. Pass – For strategic reasons, a hero might not want to move or fight yet due to wanting another player to join them in a fight or to do something else that may impact what action will be chosen next. This will still cost the hero one hour.

A Different Troll

Loaded fine, tutorial fine Tried to actually play a game, cant get past select equipment screen. Tried all buttons, options. Im having a lot of fun playing. It could use a few UI tweaks. We dont think you can undo, even things like moving that could be undone easily. We havent figured out how to trade items (if it is possible). But still a 5 star game! Fight – If a creature is in the same space as a hero, the hero can engage the creature. One round of combat equals one hour.

We literally cannot stop playing this app or the board game!!!! Was really well done and matching the board game well.Final Score: 3 Stars – A puzzle game hides under the skin of a fantasy adventure game. While fun, Legends of Andor could use a bit more replay value. New legends here – not just a rehash of the legends in the game. (I would have liked that as well). Same difficulty as board game, same incredible Michael Menzel art, same feel. Heroes are the same in the base. So excited to see if there will be DLC of more heroes/quests. Great job with this. Game crashes at start, restarted phone and have IOS 12.1.4 still does not work. Have most current version of game and still crashes. Play a warrior, sorceress, dwarf or archer, and defend the king’s castle! Pass difficult trials, defeat determined opponents and protect the land from a dark secret. We’ve tried all the troubleshooting steps and the program still crashes at the start of the first tutorial game. We have ipad 3 with IOS 9.3.5. I’d be happy to change our review after the game is fixed.
