Soul Eater is a unique MM monster romance set in a dystopian modern earth where monsters have risen and as a result of panic the military has taken over. When Danny is sent on a suicide mission to kill a dangerous monster, he is the only one spared by said creature. After, the military takes him in for questioning, during which Danny comes to the realization that maybe the military isn't as good as they claim to be. When the monster, Wyn, comes to Danny's rescue, Danny decides to go with him into the wastelands rather than stay in the overpopulated cities the military has control over. The two make their way through the wastelands of former America, searching for somewhere to call home; and along the way, the two forge a bond. wyn and danny are now intertwined for life and basically married ( as wyn gave danny one of his bone rings for his ring finger) and the other monster and human couples can now live many many years together. so i am a very happy person right now 🥰 Also, we get a little more into his feelings about Wyn and Danny. And that he also has some plans to try out a human of his own...or Wyn's human, which...uh, good look Orlith lol. That'll end well 😂 Next up has to be the big overbearing purple dude, Edin. I’m already deep in his story – and Danny and Wyn will definitely be making an appearance (I can’t resist). After a while, Wyn and Danny become romantically involved, so after that we also gets lots and lots of long sex scenes, which I couldn’t care less about.

And why is Wyn fascinated with Danny? How does he even know his name? It is never explained. There is a small snippet at the end that tells us a little, but still .....it is AT THE END. Danny was mostly meh for me, though - the only thing i liked about him was that he fell in love with Wyn. So, the story starts with our favourite Soul Eater falling into an existencial crisis about Danny's mortality and the aftermath. Hence, he decides (with Danny's consent) to go through the tear and tether their lives at the Caen an Sin (monster world). This fact will give rise to a marvelous journey full of love and sexy times ♥️ 🌶️ The way Ms. Mayne is able to craft a love story so well and so amazingly well done, in such a short amount of time, is amazing. Just, so well done. And I loved these two and kindaaaa wish it'd gone the way of Lor and turned into a whole book haha.

The dialogues were also weird at times… Especially the dialogues while they were having sex. And the plot gets even weaker once they start having sex on a "regular basis". It’s basically just them having sex, killing demons, getting some rest, and doing it all again. There is no real goal or endgame for Danny besides following Wyn as he is “fulfilling his mission” and killing people.

But as they start a physical relationship, they get closer and closer emotionally too, and as they go on their journey, fall more and more in love. The military men that are over Danny are just completely AWFUL men - are we supposed to root for them? I didn't.This is reminding me why Wyn and Danny are my favorite couple. Aury and Gage may be intense but Wyn and Danny are everything. I’ve been writing bits of a million different stories for years, but never forced myself to sit down and really focus on one project – until now. Wyn loves Danny. Danny is the only human who isn't afraid of him and the only one that matters to him. He won't let anyone hurt him, ever. But Danny's human life is too short and they decide to go to a place where they can do what it takes to live together, forever. But also, the characters. It’s easy to see in this first book; Danny’s so sweet and so badly suited to being in the army, and he’s a great foil for Wyn’s gruff but ultimately self-conscious demeanour. But it’s even clearer the more books in we get, as we revisit characters and see them interact with each other.

For some reason, Danny loves my voice. For some reason, Danny loves me. And when we both decide that his natural human life is nowhere near enough time for us to have together, we go on a journey between worlds to the one place where we can do what it takes for us to be together forever. The beginning of this book is great. It’s dark, intriguing, and compelling, but then it just becomes a boring and purposeless sex fest. this novella was also so funny. i got so many feel good moments and laughs. wyn is very intimidating and feared by literally everyone but he is so hilarious. be prepared to laugh a bunch and for this to feed your ultimate sweet tooth 🥰 I was born the night monsters rose on earth. I’m a true child of the new world. I’ve never met a single other soul except for my dad, who decided to keep us out here in the Wastes when he escaped with me from the hospital that catastrophic night. If you love Danny and Wyn, don’t read that. The thing I can't even think about or I'll probably cry is that Wyn is immortal, while Danny obviously isn't. This basically means Wyn will outlive Danny and live after he dies. I don’t remember them talking about that, so it freaking sad. The book ends, at least for me, in HFN, so they'll just wander around until Danny dies? I hope this will be explained in future books.

It’s one of the first books in a long time I could not put down, and when I had to (regrettably), my mind was still there, with Danny and Wyn. Ending on a lighter note here, but just throwing out some appreciation for the variety of genitalia. From Wyn’s slit and emerging penis, to more normal and just large Edin (unless he had ridges? I can’t remember), to Seraph and his tentacle situation. Different and unusual, in the Monstrous series, essentially translates to “This MC is about to have the best sex of their life”. Again with the theme of acceptance and celebration of being unique. To make it short: It was a good decision. While it took me a bit to get used to Danny's southern drawl, it was perfectly in character, seeing as he's from Louisiana. Wyn's deep growl was... everything. It gave me all the best shivers, and made me appreciate Michael Lesley even more. But I’m still a soldier. I still have responsibilities. It doesn’t matter how I feel about Edin, because we can’t be together. It’s too dangerous.
