Later during the crew’s liftoff headed toward boarding The Endurance the room literally comes alive with rich, tactile, low frequency energy. At startup, viewers are taken directly to a static screen with the usual selection along the bottom and music playing in the background, which stops after about a minute. Color Reproduction: Unlike the 1080p Blu-ray version the colors in this 4K presentation are all remarkable here. In my opinion, some additional work could have been done with these 45 minutes to make the terrestrial part of this tale even more developed, but ultimately even after a fifth viewing now I just can’t wait to blast off into space.

Academy Award® winner Matthew McConaughey stars as ex-pilot-turned-farmer Cooper, who must leave his family and a foundering Earth behind to lead an expedition traveling beyond this galaxy to discover whether mankind has a future among the stars. Nolan's ambitious sci-fi epic goes on the lofty quest for life through the Ultra HD universe with a superb, often stunning HEVC H. I love the story which to me as its heart is truly about the love between a father and his daughter. Farmer/Engineer Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) and his family aren’t immune to the climate changes, either. However, I applaud Nolan here because he sought out to make something big, bold and ambitious and by golly he succeeded, but there is one man’s name shrouded in the shadows here that needs to be thrusted into the spotlight and rightfully recognized for the credit he deserves.

Not to mention that his action scenes are wonderfully framed and expertly constructed as to lead you through an experience rather than splattering you with chaos. Totaling just over two hours, these 14 featureless explain pretty much all you’d need to know about the film. As stated, Interstellar already looked fabulous on Blu-ray, but that image was not without its faults, despite the mostly jaw-dropping results. Hans Zimmer’s beautiful score isn’t what we’re used to and by Nolan’s direction, has a bit of a retro feel to it. I can already tell that even though I have five viewings of this feature under my belt, I have not even begun to scratch the surface as to how many times I’ll ingest this one on the Blu-ray format this year.

Portions of this review appear in our coverage of the standard Blu-ray release written by Aaron Peck. Some might take issue with the on-the-nose nature of the Nolan brothers' screenplay, but the movie never lacks excitement. Although my score does not reflect the not-so perfect nature of the film, rest assured, I had to strap on a pair of Gene Simons sized balls to change for the third time now so that it’s P-E-R-F-E-C-T to me. The Science of Interstellar – This 50 minute documentary is narrated by McConaughey (much more understandable here than in a majority of the film, I might add) and takes us through a lot of the literal science that’s included in the film. Here we get to explore the concepts, process and recording of Hans Zimmer’s unforgettable organ score. There’s really nothing not to like about Interstellar – the cast is fantastic, the plot is actually believable. Of course none of these conversations here would be remotely possible without the inclusion of Kip Thorne, whom I discussed at length up above in the film section.
