This book is a welcome departure from the trove of others I've read that seem to be full of anecdotes of healing or recovery but never quite zero in on the "how" I could take and apply in my own life. This is good advice, though difficult to consistently do for folks like me who often have trouble settling into our bodies. What Anxiety Rx did for me was to distill wisdom I had learned from other sources into actionable steps that I could implement immediately. In Russell’s view, most treatments for anxiety, including medication and CBT, fail in the long term. That source is in a place most doctors and psychologists fail to explore, and that oversight is why the positive effects of most anxiety therapies tend to wear off over time.

I would not recommend this book to anyone, because combining existing knowledge and claim it as your own just seems fraudulent and wronng to me.Russell’s core message has the potential to be transformative – that it’s more effective to use the body to calm the mind, than the mind to calm the body. Without being steeped in the concepts and drilling them over and over, a real shift in a lifetime's worth of negative thought patterns would not be possible.
