While Gabriel's exit was accompanied by a short side trip into his solo career up until about 1980, Steve's solo works haven't been brought up at all apart from his explanation for his first album – even though he had been the first to release a solo album back then. Closed captions (CC) refer to subtitles in the available language with the addition of relevant non-dialogue information. The story then moves on through the departure of founder member Anthony Phillips and the arrival of Phil Collins and Steve Hackett in 1970 to form the 5-man line-up that established the band s career with albums such as Foxtrot and The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway . Featuring contributions from key members past and present: Tony Banks, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett, Mike Rutherford and Anthony Phillips, as well as a wealth of archive performance footage of the band’s biggest tracks and fan favourites, this first authorised study of the band’s history commences with their formation at Charterhouse in 1967 and reunites the band for the first time in many years.

As it turned out, this was supposed to be part of a larger campaign probably aimed at getting Genesis back into the public discourse again. Tony's remarks about how everyone (besides Phil) was somewhat stiff back then, which also affected Steve's solo, is illustrated by a current interpretation by Daryl Stuermer in the studio. This alone isn't all that bad since it would probably be difficult for any director to find a balance between all the solo careers and what's happening with the band. This is the release of the Genesis documentary televised on the 4th October 2014 on the TV channel BBC 2. There's still barely any Steve in the documentary's 80s while Tony Banks is featured with a lot of quite poor songs. Video evidence, obtained from official surveillance cameras installed by the states themselves, confirms the geotracking evidence.

The first irritating bit is when Tony drops a slightly unfortunate comment about the Firth Of Fifth solo. However, Ed Goodgold, the first North America tour promoter, who had never been featured in a documentary before, is quite an interesting choice. Along with R-Kive and the re-release of Three Sides Live, the BBC documentary will also be released on DVD and Blu-ray under the title Sum Of The Parts in November 2014. It was the first time drummer and singer Phil Collins, former singer Peter Gabriel, keyboardist Tony Banks, bassist Mike Rutherford and guitarist Steve Hackett had reunited since the Six of the Best reunion concert (1982). The story then moves on through the departure of founder member Anthony Phillips and the arrival of Phil Collins and Steve Hackett in 1970 to form the 5-man line-up that established the band’s career with albums such as “Foxtrot” and “The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway”.Genesis: Together and Apart is a 2014 documentary about the English rock band Genesis and its members' solo projects.
