Description

It seems like she has all the pieces necessary to put together what is going to happen with Poppy in the future. But finally getting to see how deranged Kolis’s thinking is, how pathetic his justifications and his sad boy want to be loved for the insane person he is…was fantastic. The audiobook is over twenty-four hours long and if I could, I would have listened straight through. So much is said and done in this book and I feel like a lot of what’s to come in the blood and ash series were hinted in this book and as much as I would like to believe that I am good figuring them out (FYI I am not :P), I feel like whatever my mind can come up with, Jen will find a way to surprise us again by adding her own special twist into them.

Kolis’ struggles are about survival as much as they are about grasping the intricate dynamics of power and honor. since this wasn’t the last book in the series, i expected another cliffhanger, but the ending was good and cute.

I honestly felt for her through it all; from her fears to her determination, she powers through even in moments of doubts. Everything makes sense to me this whole book was many lightbulb moments of me going oh that’s why that happened in the fbaa series, that’s why they believe this, this is how this was created and this is how we may be able to fix this.

Every time I think JLA has exhausted her shocking twists in the plot line twisting through the Flesh and Fire series and the Blood and Ash series, she goes and proves me wrong! Instead of Kolis being this actual scary villain JLA made him out to just be a creepy, slightly insane guy. Will listen to again to make sure I didn’t miss something and know where to skip when stuck in repetitive monologue. Jla saw everyone complaining about there not being enough understandable lore, world-building, and intricacies of this universe and said here damn I’m going to give you this book lol.But seeing how determined he was to save her, what we learn after the fact…it all just made my heart melt! Look I love JLA's smut usually but this just went on and on and on and on and I found myself skimming. It's dragging out the series far longer than it needs to be, and although I can see the relevance, I haven't connected with it the same way. Nyktos is ready to sacrifice everything, including the devastation of the realms, to give Sera the life she deserves.

Her young adult romantic suspense novel DON’T LOOK BACK was a 2014 nominated Best in Young Adult Fiction by YALSA. whatever other scraps of relevant unknown information that is contained in this portion of the book could have, and should have, been presented in a more concise manner. What we learn over 31 chapters is that Kolis is a A-hole (we knew that already) and Sera is more neurotic than we ever imagined.
