Description

Brew Prois a lot like the Specialita, but is more geared toward filter coffee. It has 55mm burrs that are built for brew coffee.

The machine can also grind consistently enough for pour over. However, the more coarse the grind, the less consistency you will find, which is in keeping with most grinders. There are also a greater number of fine particles than many other conical burr grinders. If you can tolerate the smaller 50mm burr and don’t mind not having a touchscreen, we recommend the Mignon Silenzio, which is not as expensive. ACE System Technology — Anti-Clumps & Electrostaticity operations eliminate common issues found with other grinders

Perfettois in the medium price range. It has a touchscreen and a precision time-based dosing feature, similar to the higher-end grinders. Meanwhile, the burrs are the same as those on the cheaper models – 50mm. It also has a basic grind timer.I think the ideal home coffee setup is a hand grinder for brewed coffee and an electric grinder for espresso. That way, you don’t have to fiddle around with adjustments all the time, and you get the best from both worlds. As is the case with any burr grinder, the Mignon Specialita will need cleaning around every months or two so it retains the grind quality and dose precision. This device is fairly easy to maintain. Before you begin cleaning, make sure it is unplugged. This is because of the company’s Silent Technology, which uses a sound-insulated case and anti-vibration solution. When you’re grinding, it will do so at an average of 40 dB, while the loudest if will reach will be around 73 dB. This means that whatever time you plan on using it, it should be quiet enough to leave people undisturbed. Grind Retention I say “precise” grinding numbers, as on the other models there are just five numbers, they're all stepless, but you only have 5 numbers as a guide, while you have a lot more guides on the perfetto.

I'll get into the review of the Eureka Mignon shortly, first of all, I'm going to give you a run-through of the different models – as there are a few, and it can get a bit confusing. So I thought I'd try to clear that up a bit first, and then tell you what I think of the Mignon from using it. Comparing the different Eureka Mignon models I don’t think it’s a lot of work to grind manually for pour over, but it’s a lot more work for espresso because it’s harder to turn the crank at these super fine settings.

Final Verdict

As I mentioned, the size is relatively compact. I think Mignon means mini in Italian, and maybe that’s an exaggeration, but it’s definitely small. You're certainly not going to wake anyone up by grinding coffee first thing in the morning, in fact, you could probably stand by the grinder and easily have a chat with the person stood next to you without having to raise your voice over the noise of the grinder. The Eureka Mignon Brew Pro is a device worth considering if you’d rather grind for filter coffee because it’s built for coarser grounds. However, if you prefer to make specialty coffee, consider a hand grinder as that will make things simpler for home brewing. Noise The top lifts off as shown, be careful as there are tabs on the front of this cover that might be damaged or break off. Just be mindful and you will be okay. Relatively mess free. Some loose grounds might fall out, but is far less messy than many. For me, I had no static issues.

One of the most common questions when it comes to the Mignon grinders is re the specialists vs the silenzio. I think a lot of people considering the Mignon are grinding for espresso, and I think the obvious choice for espresso among the Mingon models is one of these two. Moreover, the aesthetic appeal of the Eureka Mignon coffee grinder adds a touch of elegance to any kitchen or coffee bar. Its modern Italian design is an artful combination of form and function, showcasing Eureka's commitment to style and substance. Despite the grinder’s power, it’s very quiet. The only espresso grinder that might rival the Mignon Specialita’s noise level is a manual coffee grinder, which (obviously) doesn’t have a motor. Assembly takes no tools, but they include a hex key to adjust the portafilter fork if need be. Insert the hopper into the grinder. The portafilter fork itself pops into the front of the grinder and you are ready to go.

Eureka Specialita Overview

Most domestic brewers only make a couple of espresso shots a day. If your grinder holds onto several grams of coffee grounds each time you use it, they’ll need removing before grinding again. After all, not doing so would be to brew “fresh coffee” with some percentage of stale grounds. Original Post: I changed from my trusty old Baratza Sette 270 to the Eureka Mignon Specialita yesterday. While I conceed that the machine has a fair bit of heft and excellent build quality, I find the usability of the Baratza Sette is far superior.
