My next try was with a printable crochet planner that I put in a binder. I really liked this system and would have kept it if we didn’t travel as much. This idea came about because I love the leather travelers notebooks. Let’s go through the pros and cons of a crochet project journal then I’ll let you take a peek at how I set mine up. The hook size chart is so helpful when you’re trying to find the right size hook for a pattern. I can’t believe how many differnent sizes there are and how the letters can be used for multiple sizes, especially with the larger hook sizes. If you follow US and UK patterns put both charts side by side for easy comparison.

The planner is made for an 8.5″ x 11 inch paper in landscape orientation. With my personal printer, I need to tell the printer to make the document ‘fit’ the printable area. You may need to do the same.

The Crochet Project Planner That Worked For Me

If something in your crochet is frustrating, write about it. It might be the technique, the colors, or just the fact that now is not the right time to pursue that project. The pdfs will print on letter size paper which you can put in a 3-ring binder or have bound at an office store.

Have you ever gone looking for that certain skein of yarn in your stash, couldn’t find it, driven to the yarn store and bought that skein you needed (plus a few others that needed homes) only to find it a few weeks later? I know I have!! This is where my idea of a crochet planner journal comes in.
